The Swans and West Ham have both confirmed that Flynn Downes has completed his move to the Hammers for the traditional “undisclosed fee”

The links for the Swans midfielder were revealed yesterday and with Downes a West Ham fan it became a natural move trumping the interest that was being shown by another Premier League club in Crystal Palace.

Speaking via the West Ham official website, Downes saidย โ€œItโ€™s a surreal feeling to have joined my boyhood Club,

โ€œI feel like Iโ€™m dreaming.

โ€œItโ€™s been my dream since I was a little boy to join this Club – itโ€™s an absolute privilege. This is my Club, so I couldnโ€™t be more delighted.ย Iโ€™m glad to be here and I canโ€™t wait to get started.

โ€œI want to be the best I can be and this feels like the perfect opportunity to test myself against the very best players in the Premier League.

โ€œPlayers have come to West Ham from the Championship and progressed to international honours. Thatโ€™s something you canโ€™t ignore. The managerโ€™s track record of bringing players through was a big motivation in me joining the Club.

โ€œIโ€™m so grateful for the opportunity to be a West Ham player.โ€
