Joe Allen 7 arrives! Debut may have to wait though

Joe Allen has finally made his long awaited return to Swansea City after a ten year absence on a two year deal after his departure from Stoke City.

The Welshman who left the club for Liverpool in 2012 almost rejoined the Swans in 2016 but moved instead to Stoke where he then spent six years.

Allen will be an able replacement for the outgoing Flynn Downes who moved to West Ham for ยฃ14m a few days ago and will also provide huge experience in midfield.

But it may be a short while until he’s ready to make his return to the team as he is still recovering from an injury suffered whilst on Wales duty.

He should be ready for the opening weeks of the season – if perhaps not the opening fixture at Rotherham – and sat out today’s 3-2 friendly win against Forest Green at Fairwood training ground.

The deal for the 32 year old will keep Allen at the Swansea.com Stadium until 2024 and he will hope to be a direct replacement in the starting eleven alongside Matt Grimes in midfield.

Croeso nol Joe!
