A report that was published today on Football League World has suggested that Jamie Paterson has been told that he can leave SA1 in the January transfer window.

The long term future of Paterson has been the subject of some speculation for the past twelve months with the player given a contract extension this time last year which caused much issue it seems and we have never seen the form from Paterson that he showed before those discussions.

And now it seems as if the club and the player may have come to the end of their relationship with the football league world exclusive saying that “Itโ€™s our understanding that Swansea are open to Patersonโ€™s exit in January and have, essentially, told the player he is free to leave the club at the start of 2023.”

Paterson was the subject of interest in the January window last season but that never turned into anything that saw him leave the club but since then, a mixture of injury, personal reasons and a general average form has seen him struggle to hold down a regular place in the Swans side.

His link up play in the early stages of last season with Joel Piroe were undoubtedly one of the highlights of the early days of the Russell Martin reign but both players have been dramatically out of form recently and it seems as if this will leave the Swans granting what seems to be a Paterson wish.

If we are to move him on then Russell Martin will hope that the deal is concluded quickly so that he can work on a suitable replacement together with whatever additional budget the move could bring but for it to happen early there needs to be suitable interest and the lack of speculation on that front could tell its own story.

Whatever way it works out though and when it does seem that Paterson is about to move on yet again meaning more changes ahead for the Swans.

  1. It sez it all, really! The fact that Jamie Paterson is another top player – one of a number under the present coaching team – to be leaving due to discontent with a lack the lack of distontent with the present coaching line-up. It is time for a change of coaching staff, starting at the top, and to bring someone in who has far more experience. The present situation is not likely to improve, due to a lack of vision when it comes to the present system being played, and a failure to change the pattern of play clearly shows a lack understanding which will see the club struggling to stay in the Championship. It is now working!

    • Amazes me how someoine who knows nothing about the club, probably attends one or two games a seasshows that these comments are from a clueless clown.

    • Are you for real Patterson and obefembi are disrupting the changing room for pure greed and we should get rid of the coaching staff and keep the disruptive players there is that what your saying ?? wow ๐Ÿ˜ณ totally lost for words , Patterson a top player ?? Where you get that from he played well first 4 months he was in Swansea and wanted more money story of Pattos career and obefembi will be another journey man with an attitude ,
We are not struggling to stay in the championship either what table are you looking at mate , best thing you can do is stuck to manager 23 on your Xbox because let’s be honest your clueless in the real world , what a load of crap to come out with
