Julian Winter has admitted that he is anticipating the Swans being active in the January transfer window with plans having been worked on for several months ahead of the window itself opening on Sunday.

Winter was commenting in his programme notes ahead of tonight’s game against Watford and added that dialogue with the majority owners (Jason Levien, Steve Kaplan and Jake Silverstein) was regular as is his football chats with Russell Martin and Josh Marsh.

However, he added a word of caution for Swans fans when he added that “as ever, our aim will be to work in the sustainable fashion which is an integral part of what we are looking to build at Swansea City.”

Winter says that he believes the squad is making progress although he will not be oblivious towards the current feelings of the fans with more than 80% currently believing that a managerial change is necessary.

“We will be working hard to improve the squad and look ahead to the second half of the season because there is no doubt we are making progress,” added Winter.

“As a club we are aiming to be active in the window, with conversations around what we might like to do having begun a while ago.

“There is frustration that we do not have a few more points on the board, but the strides we have made since Russell and his staff arrived at the start of last season have been clear to see and we remain just a few points off those play-off places.”

Swans boss Russell Martin used his own programme notes to add words of his confidence ahead of the window when he wrote “I am hopeful we will be able to strengthen the squad.

“A lot of work has gone into preparing for the window, we are all in agreement of what we need to help us, and if we can add in areas which will help us in the final third then that will be a positive for us.”

The game against Watford kicks off at the Swansea.com stadium at 7.45pm this evening.

  1. It’s all well and good to talk a good game but the table and doesn’t lie. We are far to predictable with no plan B. Dominating possession by 70% plus doesn’t win you games if conceding 2 or 3 goals. It’s getting boring and rather depressing to watch at times and quite frustrateing
