Developing good habits – the progression for Swansea City

The Swans continued their pre-season build up with another comfortable win yesterday afternoon as they defeated Newport County 5-0 in another behind closed doors friendly win.

Josh Thomas scored his second brace in four days whilst there were also goals for Ben Cabango, Josh Key and Joel Piroe as the Swans built on last weekend’s 5-0 win against Swindon with an equally dominant display.

โ€œIt was a really pleasing afternoon, another clean sheet, scored goals and we are getting into good habits,โ€ assistant coach Alan Sheehan said after the game.

โ€œThe lads acquitted themselves very well, played with a really good tempo and we looked a threat, especially in that second half.

โ€œNow is a good time to get into winning habits and the habit of getting clean sheets. I think itโ€™s important we do these things properly as we work through pre-season because we want to be an aggressive team, in and out of possession.”

The Swans next friendly is Friday night against Oxford, a game that will be streamed live by SwansTV and Sheehan says that everyone at the moment has a chance of featuring against Birmingham in the season opener on August 5th.

“These last two games have been good for large parts,” added Sheehan.ย  “But we have still got a lot of work to do, but right now we are in a good place.

โ€œIt has been a productive couple of weeks but we have got to be firing at the right time because it is that game against Birmingham that we are getting ourselves ready for.

โ€œEveryone has got the challenge of being ready and fighting to be picked for that first game.โ€
