Anyone cut the grass yet?

Serviced the mower - quick oil change, new spark plug and STP injector cleaner - then did first cut of the year. Many more to come! Good for thinking time.

Just finished doing my lawn for the first time this year, it looks a lot better now but it’s
No chance, way too strenuous for what it achieves. Done that for years and killed my back every time. Electric scarifier is much less hassle 🤣

Electric scarifier is defo the way to go. I bought one a year or two ago for about £50, it does a tidy job and it’s much quicker than a rake. It was cheaper to buy it than hire one in.

I like moss. It doesn't need mowing.

I haven't cut the grass yet, simply because i think at this moment, it's a few weeks to early. For me it's nearly there, but not just right at the moment.

I was studying the front lawn from the landing window earlier, and I feel as if it's just getting to a nice colour, tiny little bit of growth, but with the temperatures forecast for the coming week, I really think it would do more harm than good cutting it now, I'm waiting for at least a 3 or 4 day run of temperatures like we had today, then the mower comes out.

Another mumsnet.com thread, Oooh let's wait until the nasty cold weather goes away and let's drink pimms out the garden and sunbathe, i might dip into my bikini also whilst using the lawnmower.. f*cking old tw*ts

Bloody hell Skip, you're a right blinking Victor Meldrew, does it really matter if people wish to talk about neutral non political subjects. Personally I love these type of threads, for me it's just the way a forum should be, I mean you can hardly have opposing viewpoints about grass cutting. I would like more threads like this.

Agree, time to start a new thread about the optimum temperature of the outside swimming pool this time of year. Mine is set at 32c, will reduce it to 31 when it warms up.

Come along Skippyjack and bring your mankini. Got the beer and pink champagne cooling at a constant 4c.

First mow of the year yesterday. Grass isn't really growing, but the weeds are getting a head start and it looks ugly as sh*t.

I have a decent-ish area to mow so I have a ride-on mower and I have to admit I find some enjoyment in doing the annual maintenance on that thing. Take a couple of hours over it, new spark plugs, oil/filter change, air and fuel filter change, get the tires to the correct pressute etc. feels kind of therapeutic taking time to forget everything else going on in the world and focus on that stuff for a while.

Probably the most 'middle-aged dad' thing I've ever posted; poundshop Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
