• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Like the penalty they were given at their place earlier in the season, that won them the game against us?
Not really, Grimes had his hand up above his head (despite still having both feet on the ground) so it wasn't in a natural position. Their defender's arm was by his side, where you'd expect it to be given his body position and the ball hit his hand

Could be argued that it prevents a goalscoring opportunity as it would have gone through to Vipotnik. He would have definitely been in a goalscoring position if the ball had got through to him.

Good debate but ultimately it wasn't given.

There is no argument due to the fact it wasn't a penalty based on the laws of the game.

Grimes arms weren't above his head they were shoulder height after jumping for a header so a natural position in that circumstance, and the ball had bounced off another player onto his hands.

He didn't jump, his feet never left the ground.

He somehow contorted his body to make himself as small as possible but still managed to handball it

Changes that came in in 2020 means that the handball by the Burnley defender should have been given as a penalty. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54321867

The relevant bit is this: "a player will be penalised for handball if the hand/arm is clearly away from the body and outside the "body line".

His hand was away from his body, which was evident by the fact that the ball deflected behind his back for a corner. That wouldn't have happened if his hand had been adjacent to his body. A clear penalty.

The second Burnley goal should have been disallowed for a clear barge on O'brien at the start of the move. The ref gave several fouls against us for much less, for instance a foul given against Cullen in the first minute for the tiniest of pushes.

I knew the rules had changed and thank you for the link.

This is why lots of players put their hands behind their backs when defending in the box.

It wasn’t given. Move on
We're far too accepting of bad decisions, such as the failure to award a penalty against Sheffield United for the repeated attempts made by Rhys Norrington-Davies to foul Peart-Harris. He should have been sent off for a second yellow too. If we don't make our case no one will.

Sometimes they go for us sometimes they go against us. The whole thing evens itself out over the course of a season.

What every club in Premier League and EFL should be doing is demanding a better standard of officals.

Also not forgetting the penalty that wasn't given on Eom up in WBA and the clear Cardiff handball down our place this season....probably missing 1 or 2 more.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think we have had a penalty in the league this season.

We've had 1 penalty, only Oxford have had none. We've had 4 against, only 3 teams have had more against. We're also the most fouled against team in the league, whereas we're amongst the cleanest. With EFL refs a lot of dirty stuff is ignored, which doesn't help a smaller team like us. That shove by Laurent on O'Brien leading to the second goal is a perfect example. In the Premier League that is called as a foul.

Team needs to get a lot smarter and stop being such a push over. The fact our previous captain was a mute hasn't helped either.

As a team we are very naive and the lack of leaders on the pitch only goes to prove that.
