Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 1 Derby County 0 | Att: 16,501 | The EFL Championship

I see that Keith Haynes says the dugout did a finger-waving celebration when we took our goal, which he took as proof that they deliberately parked the bus before going for the win.

Haven’t seen what has been said on the other board as I don’t post on there but honestly if you’d watched the game you’d realise how desperate a rewriting of history this sounds.

Perhaps they waved fingers, toes or anything else to celebrate that we’d scored a goal after looking like utter crap for most of the game?

But, anyway, whatever people like to think is up to them.

Some Trump supporters think he’s playing ‘4D chess’ over tariffs as well…

Thanks Lisa. You don’t have to post on a site to read what people say there. But to help you here’s what Keith Haynes posted:
“The way Stearman and Sheehan celebrated the goal with wagging fingers tells me that was another well planned strategy. It nearly worked a few minutes before.”

Thanks for confirming that we have freedom to hold our own opinions. That’s a big relief.

If that's the case then Sheehan is absolutely not the right man to be sat in our dugout next season. Parking the bus against that lot is embarrassing.

Not that I take what is said elsewhere that seriously.

Maybe he’ll set us up more adventurously against Plymouth?

Sounds like many posters have decided based on the Derby game that he is either a tactical idiot or Cooper Mk2. Maybe he’s just a pragmatist who cares more about winning than entertaining?

I wouldn't say he's a tactical idiot, more naive. Which would suggest he's not the fella to steer us through a 46 game campaign.

There are ways to play football and there are ways to play football.

Personally I wan't a manager that sets us up to attack and go for it every game.

Fair enough, and I respect that. But I think the consensus after the Derby game was that he set us up badly and only stumbled on a solution at the death. Looked to me like he deliberately parked the bus and then went for the jugular. You might not like that (not sure I do) but it worked and if that was his plan then credit is due.

I don't like it at all.

The difference between tonight and last Saturday is clear to see that we didn't need to resort to that kind of anti football which he subjected us to against Derby.

My point was not to defend Sheehan’s tactics against Derby, but simply to argue that maybe there was method behind the boring madness.

It would be sheer madness to set up and play the game out that way.

We were playing Derby County at home not Dortmund away.

We're playing like 1970's Brazil and he's bringing on Jay Fulton.

Honest to God, what the fuck,

I actually like Jay. He’s like a lazy street sweeper who’s been allowed to slack off for years by a poor boss and a complicit colleague. Still got something in the tank.

I like the analogy 😂

I won't be signing up to join his fan club.

So Sheehan has spoken: the tactics against Derby were deliberate. "I'd rather win ugly... than lose pretty".

Those of us who said that was the case are not idiots after all!

Personally I think it is refreshing to have a manager who tailors our play according to the opposition. It's arguable that we haven't had that since Carvalhal, and most people think even he got it badly wrong. So we probably have to go back to Laudrup to see it done well.

I appreciate that some posters would rather see us play every game like a restaging of The Charge of the Light Brigade. I'm OK with the odd boring 1-0 win as long as he doesn't make a habit of it.
