Just back from Exeter. First half was very scrappy but we did dominate the ball in midfield. Ronald saw a lot of the ball but hardly ever took his fullback on and was dispossess time and time again. No Swans subs ar half-time but second half was a better game. After Exeter scored, we upped our game and looked dangerous although having no striker in the team didn't help. Burgess 'scored' with a fantastic bullet header from about 10 yards out from a corner but was disallowed for offside which mystified everyone in the stadium - could only have been someone standing near the keeper but how a lino could see if he was in the keeper's line of sight, I don't now. Widdell then turned smartly and shot towards the bottom corner, it was definitely going in (it was coming straight towards me) and would have beaten the keeper but somehow a defender got a boot in the way, then Cullen curled a 25 yard free kick just wide of the post. We lost a bit of rhythm when a few subs came on but eventually sorted it out and Vip 'scored' with an excellent volley from a Tymon free kick but this was again disallowed for offside, again don't know who it was given against because looking at Vip's starting position, I can't see how it would have been him but if it was, it must have been very tight.
Of the new guys, Burgess very composed both in the air and in possession, Galbraith also very composed, very accomplished on the ball and doesn't give the ball away. seemed to have a good understanding with Franco which was good to see. Widdell was absolutely everywhere, amazing engine . Don't know who our #49 was but boy was he fast and very determined when trying to win the ball back too. Wales not on for long but made some good runs and definitely looked to have something about him in his brief appearance. Worrying that we had Fulton at CB, not because he's Fulton but because we have 2 senior CBs out injured.
