Fulton

But there's a reason why he only plays a few mins here and there and that reason is that in the main he's guff we dont want 11 players and 5 bench warmers we need 16/17/18 players that can take to the field and change the game Fulton can't change a game unless it's changing your side from having 11 players on the park to only having 10.
It’s a point of view. You’ll always need players to play a few minutes here and there.

I’d rather use all available finance to improve the first 11 and look within to push Fulton. If you want to spunk good money on replacing Fulton you’re throwing good money after ….. guff.

👍

Players that play a few minutes here and there will never out perform players in the starting 11. They’ll never be as match sharp and it will take time to get performance levels up, it’s apples and oranges and you can’t expect the same levels. As far as implying he’s a liability, lets look at Joe Allen - I’m a huge Joe fan and would forgive him anything but I won’t lie, over the last couple of seasons I was far more worried seeing Joe come on for the last 20 mins than I would be to see Jay coming on.
More worried seeing Joe come on? Are you serious. Joe Allen coming on as sub offers you drive and energy and looks to have a positive impact on the game. Fulton offers nothing like that, but continually gives away free kicks in dangerous positions and picks up card after card . He's a liability, as we found out to our cost in the play off final.

I believe his sending off in the playoff final, unfortunate as it was, is the only red card he's ever had while playing for us? So picking up yellow cards is hardly the end of the world.

I haven’t looked to be sure but we often conceded when Joe came on in the last couple of years. Not criticising Joe but he’s had no more impact than Jay recently.

I honestly have not once was worried when Allen came on. If anything I was excited. Agree with everything in relation to Fulton. I think it's great we can all debate about players and doing it in right manner, but I don't undertand what game people are watching with Fulton. He is liability and does nothing for the team.

He improves markedly in my view this time of year, I’ll certainly give him that.

I don’t like anyone coming on to ‘close out the game’. It often ends badly and always hands over the initiative. Keep playing in the way that is winning you the game.

I’m not making it Joe v Jay and regret making the comparison because I love Joe, but my point is kinda proven anyway in that Jay is unfairly maligned whilst others escape the same critique.

Your last sentence is the bit I disagree with.

Thank you. My clumsy comparison has started another debate on a point that I wasn’t trying to make.

It was only to make a point that players coming on late in get the shit end of the stick, and some more than others. Fulton coming on is often the right sub, if you have to make a sub. Joe Allen as a starter would be a whole other conversation and something that would excite rather than worry me.

I am a harsher critic on Jay than most, he is consistently inconsistent but the red card he got in the play off final was extremely harsh. A sliding tackle where his leading foot hit the top of the ball and bounced up making the tackle look far higher than was intended.
