Trent AA

You don’t think they’ll be ‘restocking’? Liverpool were mangled and humbled by PSG this season, even though the score looked close, and it’s they that have benefited this year domestically by poor competition, particularly Man City. I detest RM, but Arnold is increasing his probability of champions league success by going there (there’s no certainties, and Liverpool may overperform or get lucky next year of course). I’m not sure he’ll be good enough for Madrid either, when it really comes to it. He’ll be out of his Anfield bubble comfort zone.

Madrid were soundly beaten by Arsenal.....

Madrid may spend big, the conversation at that point changes.

Yes I agree Madrid are currently poor, for them, but we are talking about future potential and their ceiling is higher than Liverpool’s. I wonder how many Liverpool players wouldn’t join Madrid, if they actually had the opportunity.

Nailed on that Madrid will be one of, if not the favourites to win it next season.

Maybe the other local lads who Liverpool brought through and kept faith in would also leave for a crestfallen Madrid while Liverpool should be in the ascendancy for nothing too.

the fans would be justified in booing them also though.

Liverpool fan's have got previous for acting like jealous dumped girlfriends, most notably with Sterling.

Real Madrid will almost certainly be shorter odds to win the CL next year than Liverpool and rightly so.

Booing a player who has been at your club for as long as Alexander-Arnold and who has won so much with you purely because he's decided to leave for a bigger club is pathetic. I understand the disappointment of not getting a fee, but a club will ditch a player at the end of their contract that they don't want anymore without a second thought, so why should players be attacked for doing the same?

Players like Ronaldo (original and Cristiano), Bale, Modric, Mbappe, Bellingham, Zidane, Kaka, Figo, Beckham, Robben, Xabi Alonso, and now Alexander-Arnold have gone to Madrid at the height of their careers because they are the biggest team in the world without doubt. I don't like them, but that's clearly a fact. Liverpool are small fry in comparison, no matter what the Scousers like to think.

I don't think TAA will be much loss to Liverpool. He's terrible at defending and slot doesn't use his Fbs like Klopp did so his attacking threat wont be missed as much.
After Lamal and Raphina ruin him in the next classico, the Madrid fans will turn on him quite quickly. i think he'll end up flitting around some top clubs for the rest of his career.

Liverpool fans have every right to be frustrated with a homegrown player running their contract down and leaving for nothing.

Especially when it’s a sideways move to a direct rival in Trent’s own words.

Of course Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world, but this is not even close to the team that dominated the 2010s.
