I use both the Neath and Tennant canals and they are both in a right state, the path from the Ferry to Tonna is very good to be fair but from Jersey Marine to Aberdulais is barely passable in parts and both canals have trees that have fallen down and left across the canal. We took the dogs down the canal earlier it’s a shame to see it in such a mess.
The path is only about 3 foot wide in parts where grass and weeds have crept across it.
Out of curiosity does anyone know what he eco/environmental affect of throwing the grass and weeds into the canal would be?
I was thinking a few men with spades (not shovels) could sort it easily if they could aim the debris straight in the canal.
There’s absolutely no need for it L.I use both the Neath and Tennant canals and they are both in a right state, the path from the Ferry to Tonna is very good to be fair but from Jersey Marine to Aberdulais is barely passable in parts and both canals have trees that have fallen down and left across the canal.
You could throw anything in there and couldn’t make it any worse, it’s a disgrace that NRW and the families that own sections of it have left the canal to rot.
This is such a good opportunity to attract tourism and for businesses to flourish along here. There has been talk of renovation such as that carried out in Clydach on the Swansea Canal which can only be a good thing. Amazingly the wildlife seams to have thrived in the chaos and neglect.
