Summer Transfer Window

Can you imagine we got McBurnie and Guiu in?

We’d be a considerable threat this season.

Although we still need a centre back - we can’t start the season with Fulton as our centre back 🤣

He’d make a huge difference the link up play etc will be a massive benefit for us.

But what's he been doing pre-season? We know he's been a fan of the finer things in life and has no club this deep into pre-season.

When would be ready to play in the league?

He isn't a 21 year old anymore.

Apart from up front, where are these gaping gaps I keep seeing people referring to?
Err how about FB (both sides need cover). Then there is CB (we need at least 1 more).

I would like a reserve GK who may actually keep Vigouroux on his toes and push for the position.

I’m surprised no championship clubs are in for Yates as we know of, he’s had double figures at Blackpool and Derby both who struggled in their seasons.
I'm not surprised he isn't really of Championship quality, hence why Derby have not come in for him, this despite the manager singing his praises last season !!

I’m just going to stick my neck out and say I think some of the negativity on here is totally unwarranted.

I know as fans we’re naturally worried and want the best for the team and I do have slight doubts about Sheehan myself but some of the business we’ve done looks more than decent to me.

We’ll likely sign one or two more in the next couple of weeks and everyone will be excited again.
I do understand people’s concerns but it does feel premature to be spiralling. Certainly anyone who is complaining that the Snoop/kits/Joe’s stuff is distracting the club is seriously under-estimating our scouting/recruitment operation. Right now no news is simply that.

Doesn’t mean I’m not doomscrolling like everyone else on here in the hope of getting some news

Alan Nixon on Twitter, says Swansea take lead on Mcburnie race, I can’t read anymore because I haven’t subscribed to him.

Fair point. The recruitment department is separate to the commercial side.

Tell you what though, I bet the former are grateful to the latter for doing all the heavy lifting these last 2 to 3 weeks by jangling all that shiny stuff in front of the supporters while there's been radio silence on the transfer front. They've played a blinder for them, fair play.

We've had bad preseasons before and come through it OK in the end
I trust the recruitment team to do the necessary ins and outs
As has been said, just as well the lack of cover has been shown up early

Zero ambition will kill us, as for your view of Fulton, words fail me. Stevie Wonder could see he's not nearly good enough.
Fulton is the whipping boy that everyone likes to criticise. I wouldn't want him starting 30 games a season but filling in, coming off the bench, he is absolutely fine for our purposes.

What/who do you think we'd replace him with?

Gavi from Barcelona would be a good shout, we would probably have to push the boat out a bit but would be a decent addition imho.

Don't think we'd be able or willing to pay the wages of both, even if Chelsea were paying a big chunk of Guiu's. One of the other would be fine.

Yes we need some cover. But that's probably quite easy to come by. A couple of loan players who can play across the back 4 should plug those gaps. This will probably be the sort of thing we sort closer to the end of the window, as is traditionally the case.

Ultimately next season, Key, Tymon, Cabango and Burgess are going to be our starting back 4 whenever they're all available. Santos as back up, possibly with some of the youngsters and whoever we may add as cover. That's about as good as it's going to get.

Central midfield will be Franco, Galbraith and Widdell with Eom Cooper and Cullen possibly filling into the more advanced position and then Fulton further back. We could see another player arrive to provide some cover but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd be happy to see them try out some of the youngsters there.

Unless we can get rid of Fisher, we'll be stuck with him as our number 2.

Of course we need a couple more signings but we're in a decent enough position given the amount of players we've lost recently.

If Inoussa, Burgess and Galbraith prove to be good first team regulars and Wales shows a bit of promise then it's an excellent window in itself and goes a long way to rectify the awful ones we've had recently.

Work to do if we want to push up the table but that was never going to be resolved in one season/window.
