Sir Sadiq Khan

Spent a day working in Croydon yesterday also catching up with old friends. It was sad to see economically what is happening there which is a national issue with boarded up shops, unkempt roads and graffiti everywhere with lots of bored kids everywhere. It did remind me of the Brynmelyn thread where there are areas of Croydon which are no go areas especially after dark. The bankrupt Council doing their best to bring transformation. We live in a very broken world.
Yeah, Croydon is a bit of a dump.

Same as most towns across the UK.

Blaming Khan for that though (which I know you are not, or at least, I don’t think you are) is like giving him credit for Hampstead being stunning. It is what it is - there are areas which are suffering and areas which are thriving. No mayor can do much about that.

Again, Croydon has been awful for a long, long, time. I had some input with Direct Line for a while and for a factoring subsid and we were told where not to wander. That was early to mid 90s.

Worked in both Merton and Sutton today, far better vibe than Croydon even seen some Police wandering around.

Another ULEZ payment day so contributing to London project.

To be fair it sounds absolutely spiffing in dat dare London. Trains and buses running like Swiss watches, less crime than ever, fresh air at every corner, sounds idilic.👍
There's some real Don Quixote energy going on here, you keep tilting at those windmills.
