Summer Transfer Window

The chase and links to these latest 2 targets (which by all accounts are genuine targets) seem to be extremely publicised and visible. Which is when we seem to have issues getting deals over the line. Where have these leaks sprung from? Could just be the club's we're dealing with of course.
Very true. When it's out in public seems like we can't get them over the line. If we can get a defender and a striker in before Saturday then I think mood will pick up.

Definitely the club we're dealing with when it comes to Kone at least. Wycombe will absolutely want a bidding war to get the most possible money for him.

Can't blame Wycombe for wanting a bidding war or to keep the player
Casey's role model is Declan Rice, and Casey's second position is not RB but MF, according to an interview in the Athletic ( player's father)
Looks a good signing to me, being in PL matchday squads and first team pre season games
Takes the pressure off getting Ben fit too
We're undercooked ATM though, and are short a CF DM and FB cover even if we sign Casey

The experiment of the academy stepping up, well if you would call it experiment has not worked. One thing that has come out of pre-season is there is little to no players who can step up. Parker doesn't look like he could physically handle the championship and was clueless yesterday.
I think you are being a bit harsh on Parker as from what I have been told his normal position is full back and he has been covering for Lissah at c/back. What surprised me is that non-playing sub Iestyn Jones wasn't given minutes as he is used to playing that position.
Apart from last season there was no plan set out for giving youngsters loan opportunities but hopefully by the time the window closes young pros will be sent out on loan to get the experience of real football in the EFL.

I think you have a fair argument in relation to his position. But be that its on Sheehan then, in the first half he was pretty bad. I understand all arguments, but he was not good. From what I have seen there is little to no Academy players are good enough to step up at present time.

Parker done no worse than Burgess. He grew into the game, as you’d expect for a youngster. Those forwards he was up against were more than decent.

Remember when Guehi fist signed for us, he was atrocious to start off with.

Absolutely no players from the academy are ready to be part of the main squad. Sam Parker will be involved but he needs a loan to L2/L1.
I am confident that even Congreve and Cotterill need loans at the level they were at last season also.

As Colin posted, these players need to be playing regular EFL to tougen them up, get them acclimatised to regular senior football and from there we assess.

K.Wilson is a stick out character for me, he needs a loan and to be viewed first hand along with the goals he returns.

Probably did him a world of good too, hopefully to our benefit.

There is no doubt that our academy prior to last season has been in disarray be it for staff leaving, redundancies etc., but the plus sign that can be seen now is that there is a very strong young age groups coming thro at the academy, that for the first time in many years beginning to show some stability.

I have my doubts whether the likes of Congreve and Cotterill, with both players contract coming to a close next summer are capable of being an effective first team squad member and as such is it in their interests if we move them on for nominal fees, covered by clauses of future moves.
