I know that just a silly dig but onto my comment, is it unreasonable for fans to expect it after we have made a reported 2 bids not far off from the asking price of 5M?

Whether or not players are worth x or y, as a club if we have a price we are prepared to pay for a player we shouldn’t pay more. Even if it’s ‘only’ £500k. And that’s a chuck of change in our position.

In this case, it appears from afar as though we basically had an agreement in place with finer details on payment plans etc to be worked out, and Wycombe played silly buggers and put it out there in the hope of attracting interest elsewhere and pushing the price up. If that’s the case, sod them. Walk away.
I believe we have ‘foreign’ player spaces left as Ronald for example no longer needs one, so there must be players in European leagues for the same price. If not, then just get a loan. And use the period of the loan to hope Wales develops into our first choice striker (or Vipotnik suddenly develops rather more speed of thought).

The loan from West Ham looks good news in our position. As does the midfielder from Liverpool. At least we are looking in the right areas of the pitch.

Kone to me looked a fine prospect. He may become the next Vardy. But it is slightly odd that people think it to be a disaster if we don’t get a player that two weeks ago most wouldn’t have heard of. Now if we don’t bring in a striker, that will be a disaster. And I very much hope it’s this week. As I hate the thought of the first 9 points or so not being treated with the seriousness of the last nine points in a season.

They've set their stall out now - clearly money there.

Also makes the decisions to get rid of Yates and bianchini strange given it's not looking likely we'll get a replacement this week

I think it was on the cards with Yates and Bianchini irrelevant of the outcome with Kone. There might be a slight small chance that it was linked as in freeing up wages and then spending. But be it being naive or whatever, seems Wycombe has messed us about big time. Sounds like we was very advanced in things. But could be the player as well, as he did like a post on the weekend in relation to him name being linked to Leicester and us. Like I said, I hope it backfires on them now.

Yes, it is unreasonable. The club clearly have a ceiling on what they're willing to pay for Kone and Wycombe want more. If the club don't feel he's worth it (and he already seems over-priced to me), then of course they shouldn't pay it. If a bunch of entitled fans then feel the need to throw their toys out of the pram, that's their problem, not the club's.

I appreciate what Lisa says about the first games of the season being just as important as the last games, but blame for that goes to the powers that be for letting the window remain open after the season has started.

If the club don't feel he's worth it (and he already seems over-priced to me), then of course they shouldn't pay it. If a bunch of entitled fans then feel the need to throw their toys out of the pram, that's their problem, not the club's.

What was that reported ceiling they were prepared to go to?
Obviously it wasn't going to be in one outlay.

There isn't millions there but they are clearly prepared to broker deals with a small initial outlay that could eventually hit 5M or not far off.
Lots of add ons etc.

We've taken punts on Ronald, Franco Widdell Inoussa and Eom, hoping to sell on for a big number
On the basis of what we've seen so far ( Ron Franco and Eom ) that tactic has failed, though Franco might yet prove me wrong, but there's too much gone on "promising but unproven"
We are now looking flaky and in need of more experience

I think it’s too early to judge those players potential (just) yet. There’s a footballer in all of them. France & Eom have had a season and both show promise in a new league/ culture and both look like bargains given a bit more time. We certainly won’t lose money on those players. Inoussa looked quality when he came on 2nd half on Saturday. Same with Galbraith. Widdell looked out of position, but still showed quality. I think they all look sound investments

With regard to Wycombe yeahI absolutely think that we draw a line in the sand, and then walk away.
They can only afford to wait around playing games and driving the price up for so long. Their reality, and God knows we have lived this, is that he is entering the last year of his contract, and the next four weeks is the last chance they will have for big money
By January, he will be worth half of what they are asking.
