Could the Ospreys and Scarlets break away from the WRU and join the English leagues? They should join lower down and earn their place though.
Not sure what the English leagues would gain, maybe a wider audience?

I think the English Premiership made a mistake when those clubs went bust and they didn’t keep the Premiership the same number of teams by promoting from below. Also not allowing teams promotion based on ground capacity is too controlling. How are those clubs ever supposed to progress without entry into the Premiership? Also no relegation in any league is ridiculous when there are lower leagues.

Welsh rugby has always been a house built on sand.

Despite what BBC Wales and HTV (old money) would have you believe over the years, it's not the Welsh national sport, it lags way behind football as a participation and spectator sport and always has done. There's no money behind it, or in it, and there never has been. Go and watch your local grassroots club, it's one man and his dog. It's an amateur sport that should never have gone professional, at least not in Wales anyway.

All it is, is the international game has always been an excuse for people to get rat-arsed a dozen times a year, that's all there is to it, nothing more than that. It's just the Welsh equivalent of Hooray Henrys in England going to Wimbledon, or the Boat Race. Other than a very tiny passionate minority, no one gives a shit the rest of the time.

Not really. It needs be sanctioned by world rugby (and hence in all intents and purposes WRU). The WRU have properly shafted both regions.

Scarlets have announced fresh investment - with USA based firm House of Luxury - whose sports division is headed up by the former WRU chief executive, David Moffett.

House of Luxury has acquired a 55 per cent controlling stake in the Scarlets, and have already assumed non-rugby operational leadership in partnership with the club’s existing board.

Dan Biggar is on House of Luxury’s sports advisory board, but won’t be involved in the organisation’s day-to-day running of the Scarlets.

House of Luxury will also take on the Scarlets’ existing financial debt!!

Most of that is unproved bollocks, so far.

They haven’t taken a shareholding
Dan Biggar has said nothing
They are headed by a ceo with a string of disbanded companies and 4 different names
Their online presence is a joke of the highest wankspeak, dreams and unicorns
They have no verified track record of anything and zero client testimonials
They can’t just take on the scarlet’s debts or liabilities
Moffett is involved, a climate change denier and right wing zealot, who ruined Welshrugby in 2003 with ‘reejun’ shit.
WRU wants one in the West. This is their ‘look at us’ attempt; St Helen’s which has died a death for 25/26 was the Ospreys’ one.

It may pan out…we’ll see.
