• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Ha wrong week to ask given that at the moment he looks fucked. 🤣 But yes, I think he’ll still be in charge at the next election. Assuming he wants to be.
The optics aren't looking great 👀. If he survives another three years I'll tip my hat to him.

Reducing small boat arrivals is the measure we hear about the most, and here the data doesn’t look good for Labour. On the basis of there being years until the next election then surely ‘one in one out’ is not just there to influence opinion polls, but on the other hand I’m not seeing how agreement on movement of such low numbers acts as the deterrent that it’s designed to be.
You're being kind when saying it doesn't look great.

If you're going to promise to reduce small boat crossing it's good to have a robust plan in place to do so.

It will take a mass parliamentary rebellion to unseat him then the majority Labour has. That’s massively unlikely. Also they’re one year into a five year term. Things were always gonna be shit. But there’s no point pretending they haven’t helped themselves.

That’s very true. But as the rise of Reform demonstrates to us regularly, commitments are made without having any idea on how to deliver them.

It's certainly been a spectacular few weeks for them.

This is the Labour Party though. I think we all hoped for better after recent years.

We all know, well most of us know Farage and his gang are just populists who say what the hard of thinking want to hear.

Didn't Labour pledge to reduce the small boat crossings as part of their election campaign?

A quick search suggest crossing are 34% than the previous year.

Regardless of Brexit, the current government aren't doing anything like they promised us they would.

Unfortunately , the only gang he's smashing is his own.

Posted the above article to show you there is another, responsible, mature, win-win approach to asylum seekers. Spains's economy is booming and they are contributing. Imagine the difference they could make to the chronic shortage of labour in Britain's social care sector, for example.
It's a long read, but worth it. Reform supporters, don't bother, it's too long for you and contains words of more than one syllable.

Asylum seekers, boats, whatever, they’re the bogeyman. It’s just a blame game and Farage and his ilk know how to play it. Even if people come to their senses on migrants they’ll find another target. It’s not new, whilst the lower classes are getting poorer there has to be deflection.

I know this has been around for ages and quite possibly been posted on this forum, but I do think this cartoon sums up your point perfectly:

If it wasn't foreigners, it would be benefit claimants, socialists, or some other bogeyman. Never the super-rich or huge companies of course.

So you don’t think something should be done about the amount of people crossing the channel then?

It’s been pointed out to you many times before when you roll that reply out, that other than a tiny minority of people, most will agree that uncontrolled migration is bad for this or any other country. What is it about that statement that you find so difficult to understand? It’s really not difficult.

I’m not hearing anyone say nothing needs to be done, but in real terms it’s just one small element of a wider issue - not to be patronising but I think you know that?
