Alot of people think we have an average squad for a mid table finish. I disagree. I think we are underperforming with good players and it's down to Sheehan not knowing what type of team or formation he wants etc. You can't fault him for trying to find answers, ala Galbraith experiment in the right back - which we all wanted but failed fast. But how long does it keep going under it all catches up with him? It's clear as day, why do we keep making average teams look good. And have no killer instinct.

AS needs to find the balance of defending and a level of creativity whatever that X1 and formation looks like.

I will offer my services to the training sessions. Being fairly tall I will stand in the area and see what players can cross a ball above my head. A £20 forfeit for each player who fails. I will buy a new car by Friday 👍

Definitely underachieving BUT look at how the starting 11 has drastically changed since the end of last season. Settled teams built over a couple of seasons do well, we still dont know our best 11 or best formation. I know it's hard to be patient based on the potential and expenditure on the squad but this is what the fans needs to be.

Only 4 of the starters today are new to the current 11 one of which is a highly experienced EFL/Premier League defender in Burgess, I don’t think we can use that as an excuse to say the starting 11 has drastically changed imo.

We have a middle of the pack budget. That means we either accept our fate and place in the world or we need an overachieving coach and an overachieving recruitment department.

Right now I think our coach is a 5/10 and our recruitment in the summer was a 6/10. Our recruitment could go up or down with hindsight as there are a lot of unknowns and some of them need time to show a bit more. I do not think my score for Sheehan can go down, I am confident he is an okay coach and just hope he shows us he can be a 7/10.

I look at every team we play against and it seems like most teams change a lot every season so it can not just be our excuse either.

The lack of a central attacking midfielder is the biggest concern for me
And I don't mean the lack of a good one, the lack of playing one altogether

Sheehan's preferred formation is 4 3 3 but usually when you play that formation you have an attacking midfielder who sits in the hole between the other two midfielders and the three attackers. The whole point of that position is so that you can get the ball to his feet and that he can bring others into play without relying on hopeful long punts into channels or dropping balls onto the striker out of low orbit.

What Sheehan has been insisting on playing is three central midfielders which leaves the striker and wingers largely isolated, and so the ball is only really moved on to the wingers after a painful string of passes that means that by the time it reaches them they are being rogered up the arse by two defenders.

Eom was reportedly capable of playing in the hole, Cullen plays there for Wales under Bellamy and by all accounts its Widell's best position.

I can't speak for others but I did not like the 5-4-1 that Sheehan played today, we looked like Cardiff at their worst hoofing the ball for 80 of the 90 minutes and barely looking a threat because unlike Cardiff we didn't have the players to make the most of that kind of style of play.

We are currently at the bare minimum of my expectations for this season regards league position.
We are boring and show very little attacking threat and are just acting in a pragmatic way and expecting things to just happen offensively because we believe this is the correct way to deal with things.

Things need to change because performances like we are seeing and being in the current league position is the reason why we parted with our previous manager.

Could we have a "meh" option. That's for me unfortunately. I'm definitely underwhelmed.

(Definition of meh....an adjective used to express indifference, lack of enthusiasm, or disappointment. It can be used to describe something as mediocre, uninteresting, or unexceptional, or to convey apathy and a feeling of being unimpressed. It's often considered the verbal equivalent of a shoulder shrug.) 😂

The starting 11 not just from today but in general this season has shown alot of new faces especially in midfield and in attacking areas and this is where we have been struggling. Defensively we have been solid because low and behold we have a settled unit that apart from burgees have played today for acouple of seasons. Let's not let common sense get in the way of this constant bashing.

Exactly this, and it's been obvious for a couple of months.

Yes, but nothing is changing with the managers approach to games is it? It will be his downfall in the end in my opinion. After the positive first 45 against Citeh in the week that's the formation and starting line up he should have gone with for the start today. Why Eom was drafted in is anyones guess.
