With a new manager soon , we may have seen the last of Fulton & Cullen.
I do not wish them any harm , but they’ve proven not be championship level footballers.
They’re skill set is more suited at league 1 or 2 level and then perhaps they can also start enjoying their football again.

I think it might be a bit harsh lumping them together.

Fulton will turn 32 this season and his best football is in his rearview. He's certainly destined for Scotland or L1, hopefully in the Jan window.

Cullen is a bit of a different animal. He's still got some good years left but he's past the point of being a developmental project. He needs to head to a club that plays with two upfront. He's just never going to be a solo striker at anywhere near this level. But, for a lower Championship club he might be able to be an okay option. Maybe I'm just a bit biased because we've seen him grow up.

He is as useful as a chocolate teapot, the sooner we cut him and Cooper completely loose the better

If I recall, Cullen had 11 goals last season. Not amazing by any stretch, but a decent return at this level in a largely struggling team where he didn't start every game. I think he's fine as a 3rd option behind Vip and Idah. Scored more goals than anyone else last season (not saying much I know. but still...)

If the new manager wants to move him on to free up space for a forward of his own, I'm not crying about it, but if anything, Cullen gets more stick because he's a local lad as it's easy to dismiss him as a token player. I still think there's value in him, especially in a team that spends more than 2 minutes a game in and around the opposition penalty box.

With respect to Fulton's contributions in the past, with him being out of contract in the summer and the age he's at, I think it's inevitable that the club will not renew so they can bring in a new face there.

It could mean that we see more of them also.

Right now we are a lower Championship side and nobody is looking for him to play more. He has give us some good service and has been a serviceable squad player and I think he should be looking to join a rich promotion chasing League One side. If they were to get promoted he would probably be relegated to being a rotation player again. In modern football he does not have a position because he is not big enough to be a striker or quick enough to be a winger.

You think Cullen maybe an okay option for a lower Championship club? Isn't he already at one?

Here are 2 guys that are bench options to chase or save a game. Much maligned but both have shown a level of ability at different times.
Crux for us - is we have improved to the point where these players are not threatening the starting XI any more.
Of course this speaks to a different problem - an improved but massively under performing squad.

I don't disagree about Cullen, but for us depending on who we bring in I would be shocked if we ended up below 10th when it's all said and done.

You're probably about right that high L1 is his level though I do think he could do a job for someone like maybe Oxford or Wednesday. He's got to be a second striker though.

That's a bit harsh. The only way we're a lower Championship side is if the club massively bungle the appointment. We're barely there in the lower third despite atrocious play as of late.

We're clearly not the Liverpool of the Champ, but they're in 8th right now. Would you call Liverpool a mid-table Prem side?

In all fairness to Cullen he hasn't had a clear run of opportunities but he has been one of our highest scorers on an opportunity v goal ratio. What I like about him is that he cares and loves the club which, if he's played in a suitable formation, may work well.

Fulton has been a good club man but I can't forgive him for that reckless and unnecessary red card against Brentford in the play-off final (we were already shithouses and that just doubled the disappointment). The only position I think he could do well is as a sweeper but heaven forbid we play that formation.

I love this club - and have for over 50 years - but I am not replacing any of the players any time soon - you have to actually be quite good at playing football..

Spot on.

My litmus test for Cullen is this: if we'd spent money on signing him from another club, how would you feel? I can't imagine anyone would say they'd be happy.
