The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

Eleven days in an International break is probably the equivalent to four days during the season, it is not like we have been without a coach for four games. An underwhelming few weeks but there is no crisis or fire to extinguish.

But during an international break, there should be less traditional club business to oversee and in theory more time to devote to getting appointments done

Do not get me wrong we should have sorted it by now. A delay at a different time of the season could have been catastrophic and season defining whereas this delay just looks a little incompetent.

Yes agreed, the ideal scenario and plan presumably would have had the new boss in the building before the internationals return

After advances and setbacks, Swansea City will really beat Vítor Matos' clause in Marítimo of 1 million euros.

The news came this morning, with the English club creating the conditions to beat the value of the clause, after having presented a proposal of around 500 thousand euros that was refused by Marítimo.

The island club reported yesterday that Vítor Matos was going to stay at the club, but now the exit is already inevitable.

Vítor Matos will guide Marítimo against Penafiel and then head to England.

Marítimo wants a coach in the same line as Vítor Matos.

Typical us, trying to lowball an offer which has caused delays and jeopardised the deal.
Seems a huge risk for us and the money involved to get him, what are they seeing we aren’t? There’s only a very limited sample size what we can see.

At least his name has the right number of syllables for Vitor Matos Barmy Army to be banger (or black and white army for those inclined). Small wins.

They’ll probably have more detailed information on Matos than we do. Still though, small sample size and a big big risk.

Going to put him on the backfoot with fans from the get go. Stupid money to spend on someone with no experience.
Surely the fans should judge him on how his teams plays and the results they produce rather than any release fee that has been paid.

After all it's not his fault the club have had to pay X amount of compo for him.

This is how I see it. The fee is secondary to his ability to do the job and we will be more bothered by results if he is bad and will forget about it if he is good. I can not see it as anything but a giant leap of faith, not just for the fans, but from the decision makers. Twelve games is a tiny sample size and can not offer enough for them to have real confidence in this decision but lets hope he is exactly what we need and can quickly galvanise this group and help us figure out which players can stay and help us in the future and who we have left behind. Welcome Vitor!
