The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

This is how I see it. The fee is secondary to his ability to do the job and we will be more bothered by results if he is bad and will forget about it if he is good. I can not see it as anything but a giant leap of faith, not just for the fans, but from the decision makers. Twelve games is a tiny sample size and can not offer enough for them to have real confidence in this decision but lets hope he is exactly what we need and can quickly galvanise this group and help us figure out which players can stay and help us in the future and who we have left behind. Welcome Vitor!
So hang on. We've sorted manager out in ten days? Boro have appointed hellberg and still have interim staff in for this weekends fixture, and Norwich have taken even longer. It's difficult, especially at this level.

Notts County another example, took longer than this replacing Luke Williams, with, the Wealdstone Town Manager.

Surely the fans should judge him on how his teams plays and the results they produce rather than any release fee that has been paid.

After all it's not his fault the club have had to pay X amount of compo for him.
100% this, I don't tend to agree with much you write but this time you are spot on.

I will be interested to see who comes in with him.

You think owners sign players and managers? I doubt you think that really? Or do you?

As a STH for many, many years, in my opinion, theres been nowt wrong with this years decision making at the club and the speed in which the decisions were made. It has actually been a major improvement on recent times. How many times have people moaned about the club dragging their feet in the past?

Really not sure where all this negativity has sprung from. A certain toxic element of the fanbase is spreading negativity without any basis - could there be an agenda or are they just miserable gits in every dayblife? They wanted fresh players in the window. They got them. They wanted AS out. Hes gone.
The only thing missing is results and I am with them with that obviously. Forget the play offs. Forget promotion - for now. If either of those happen great.

As for protecting individuals..couldn't give a rats ar$e about names on doors, titles, or who does what. Bloody sure if anyone screws up or doesn't pull their weight or is not fit for purpose they will booted out like Montague and I trust the current owners to continue in that vein. Stop making it about personalities. Its OUR club. Sick to the back teeth of all this whining and sense of entitlement.

And before I sign off, just to clear up a misunderstanding which I spotted elsewhere, despite my username- .I am not one of the fairer sex ( although I am a bloody handsome sod). Nicknamed Mamas in my workplace due to an overly long Greek surname.
Well I have been a STH since 1976 and I have a different view.
Everyone is allowed their opinion no matter how old they are or how long they have been a STH.

If true - we need to get behind this guy and give him the chance to prove he has what it takes to be a number one in coach in the toughest division in World football.
Interestingly over the past couple of decades we have appointed 3 Portuguese managers and maybe 1 Welsh manager.. (unless I am missing something? )
Not sure what this says - but many coaches from this country have prospered on the world stage - e just need to pray we have the cream of the latest generation.

Which bit of my post is the question aimed at? Middlesborough did not sack their manager and choose to have to appoint a new one and Norwich are not a very well run club. Notts County did not sack their manager and it looks like they messed up that appointment massively. I refer to my earlier post where I said it is not catastrophic or season ending because of the timing but that still does not mean it has been something to celebrate.

4 of these staff joined the same day he did so I guess this is his preferred staffing options, interesting that he has a goalkeeping coach wonder if this means Margetson will go?

The person who hired the manager that we had to sack (our then DoF) has been sacked and is now in league two. We have now replaced that manager in 10 days, which is quicker than a lot of clubs is basically what I'm trying to say.

This channel seems to have most of the highlights from this season. Nice counterattacking goal for the second but points deducted for the striker wearing the number 3!

For people who rate Vital Swans, he's absolutely insistent that the release clause is not close to 1M euros.

I will say - even if it is, that's £800,000. That's half a Bianchini, it's not a big outlay for a manager, even for a club like us

His club came out and said 1M or nothing and next day we seemingly agree it.

When you put it like that...... Just seems like they've had our pants down over this though. Salty AF

A direct quote from his club's chairman saying the release clause was 1m euros contradicts that.
