Another three points is a great result. The euphoria of a 90th minute winner is also fantastic.

While I wasn't able to be there tonight, I'd be interested in some reactions.

If the match had ended 1-1, and their goalkeeper hadn't made two howlers, what would have been your view on the game overall ? Did the 90th winner skew your view ie euphoric relief ?

Is Matos changing the culture, were we more aggressive and forward thinking ? ( even though we do not have clinical skill in the final third).

What additions do we still need in the New Year ? And do we return some loanees ?

Was Matos proved right in not substituting Ronald ? ( some match day thread observers were going nuts when he wasn't subbed). Would the majority at the game have applauded a half time sub ?

Are we kidding ourselves whether we are more than a middling side based on this result ?(with this squad) . Do we see ourselves pushing up the table from here on in ?

More questions than answers maybe 🤔

Honestly I was disappointed at the time that Ronald stayed on
But the final 30 minutes of the game he was a genuine threat, he was standing up his man and had one assist and could have had two more

I would of been disappointed if we drawn, only because we deserved to win.

Matos is never gonna fix everything straight away. I'm not making excuses but he has been here not long with non of his coaching staff.

The team can improve but we are seeing more passion and closing down and shots. I'm happy where we are going.

I have swayed a bit on what we need.
We need a winger with genuine pace, an upgrade on Burgess at centre half and a Right Back.

I thought we needed a 10 but we have enough in Stamenic,Galbraith, Franco and Yalcouye for this season.

I wouldn't have the time or inclination to answer all those! Where's Johnny Nash when you need him? 😂😂

Its interesting with Burgess
They showed his stats before the game and he was 1st in the division for passes, clearances, headers
He also has two goals and three own goals to his name so he knows where the net is

The win tonight was much deserved.

It was great seeing the stadium full again to capacity. Not seen it like that since the Prem! I made the trip in to watch it and didn't leave disappointed! COYS!

I have said this pretty much since Matos first came in, with every game you can see the effect he is having on the squad without the ball. I think he's quickly assessed that we don't have a lot of quality in the squad, but that wasn't the main problem, what was letting us down was a lack of work rate without the ball.

You can see in the games that players are now sprinting towards the opposition to close them down, not jogging like they were before. You can tell he worked under Klopp. He won't stand for less.

To answer your question - if it had been a draw I'd have still been happy with the effort we put in, especially in the second half. But we deserved to win for the sheer effort we put in.

I think that's slightly harsh. We're clearly far better with the ball than we were and have scored a lot of goals under matos. We've also created 10x more than what we did under Sheehan

The reason we're creating more is we're winning the ball much higher up the pitch than we did under Sheehan, which disrupts the opposition more. Under Sheehan we'd retreat into a low block at the drop of a hat - fine at times, but not when you do it all the time.

Even If we did draw this game and the Stoke game they gave me more optimism then the 2 wins against Pompey and Oxford.

I seen a clear structure and idea in those 2 games which was being severly handicapprd by 3 certain individuals (Burgess, Franco, Ronald) who were hellbent on disrupting any sustained pressure we were trying to build.

Great win. Cant fault players for effort and endeavour
I thought the midfield 3 of Widdel, Franco and especially Staminic played well. Staminic was a threat and was always driving forewarn. So much so, his teammates couldn’t keep up, then he had to stop, regress and either pass sideways or backwards.
One thing we really need to improve on is our crossing. We can never seem to beat the first man, and this is really frustrating which needs addressing.
