• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

The big positive for me in the last two games are the type of goals he’s scored.

It was argued (and probably rightly so) that he was only scoring worldies and we weren’t creating things for him earlier in the season but the 3 recent goals are the type that all good centre forwards get over the course of a season if they’re getting 20+ goals. Long may it continue!!
Absolutely. His finish against Birmingham was top quality. I hope Matos goes balls out to get the ball forward much more quickly because he might hit 30 with the correct service.

Indeed but this is little ole Swansea.
But your point is based on nothing? We've never routinely sold our players for pennies and played the 'woe is me, we're too small to compete' card. Piroe, Bony, Ayew, Sigurdsson, and Downes are all of our notable sales in recent years, and we got good value for all of them. The only players that come to mind as us having sold poorly were Nathan Wood (only because we turned down a bigger offer previously, he's shite), and maybe Gomis?

We managed £15m for Alfie Mawson!

I’d say Rodon was a little bit of an undersell too when you consider it was Spurs who were buying him.

Can’t account for the future of course but I think Downes sold for more, yet it’s Rodon who has more Premier League experience.

Rodon was fairly valued at the time considering he'd never played above the Championship.

As of the time we sold him Rodon had never played in the Premier League

To be fair though, he was shite last season 🤣🤣
To be fair he was 22 years old, had been made redundant, moved to another country where he knew nobody at very short notice, had no preseason to speak of and had to deal with a manager who's football philosophy dictated that putting balls into the box for him was a crime.

I agree with you but I still thought that he wasn’t that good. Like many others also I would argue.

Never really looked to give him his opportunity to get his hat trick last night. Went back to pissing about with it at the back , even though they had their warning with the Blackburn goal.

Looking at the reported fees for the last few Champ top scorers and high scoring players:

Akpom: 28 league goals, sold for €12.3m was 27 at the time. Last year of contract.

Szmodics: 27 league goals, sold for £9-11m was 26 at the time. Not the last year of his contract.

Piroe (not top scorer when he left us): 19 league goals, sold for around £10m, was 24 at the time. Last year of his contract.

Vipotnik will be 24 by the end of the season and if he ends it as top scorer, he’ll likely get 20+ goals at his current rate. The key for us is (unlike Piroe) Vipi will still have 2 years on his deal with us. Obviously profile plays into it and the amount of clubs that will be interested but we’ll be in a strong position to command a good 10m+ fee for Vipotnik in the summer.
I think you are overlooking his most important quality - he can smash the ball equally hard with both feet and can score from outside the area. That (if he hits 25 plus) should get us 15-20
Million.
