Who misses the Match Day Programme ?
I do came across the one for the Hull City
2016/17 season .
So much information .
An interview with a young Ben Cabango .
There was sad news of the passing of Russell Coughlin at 56 .
I didn't now he was born in Swansea.
A competitive midfielder who played alongside Super Jonny Cornforth .
Jack Magazine £3 .

Have a programme from the game with Oldham Athletic March 24th 1973 League Division 3 .
Cost 7 Pence .
Will post again about that one .

In the Premier League days I think the club lost sight that most people would have a quick browse and then stuff them in a pocket when they started producing programmes about the size of a completed sticker album.

Have got boxes and boxes of them from the mid 80s through to the late 2010s. Loath to throw out any sports memorabilia and sure I’ll go through them all someday.

It a shame they’re no longer printed, but I guess I’m as guilty as anyone as I stopped buying them a few years before they stopped them.

If I remember right, at a fans Forum around a year or so ago there was an angry fan who called out the marketing department. And they was put on the spot about why they stopped the physical copy to digital. There response was they was losing money and they was selling very little and no demand for it.

Sounds fair enough. It’s about supply and demand and if there isn’t enough demand what’s the point? 🤷🏻

I do wonder if it’s worth printing programmes on request and the price reflects cost etc…

Are we the only club who’ve gone digital with the match programme?
I’m as guilty too, got programmes from 1985 to mid 2010s. Three bin bag fulls!
Wonder if they’ll become collectors items later on?

The Question was do you miss the
Match Day Programme ?

I have Programmes from the 70s to the 90s plus 2010s

Yes I am guilty of not buying one every game
Expensive to print lack of sales contributed then Covid killed them altogether.

What surprised me was having a Programme 52 pages , costs could have been saved by having a quarter of those ,
There was lots of adverts which would have been at a cost to the advertisers.
For me a magazine with a basic format would have been enough .

Who remembers the house where you went to have a look what they had , I used to buy lots of away Programmes .

A lot of the content is now available online and much more quickly than it can be printed, so there's not as much need for them now. Same thing as opposition profiles and team history, you can find it all online if you want it.

I stopped buying them a while ago, still got a whole load going back to the 40s and a single pre-war program as well (think most of the pre-ww2 ones were pupled as part of the war effort so there aren't many around).

From what I can see Premier league Clubs plus most Championship clubs have match day programmes.
Yes you can find any information on line
Part of the match day experience for me .

They initially offered people the full bundle of 23 programmes at the end of the season for £3 per match.

Don't remember seeing anything about it since though, so not sure if we still do it?

Think the programmes printed back in the day, old 4th Division days, were mostly adverts. Couldn't have been selling many then, there was barely a tad over 3000 in the ground.

The Hull programme was £3 .

Who would buy them at the end of the season ?
Wouldn't you buy them on match days .
All depends how much you want to own a programme.

I get why some people like them, never been a thing for me.
