I would say that going to war is one of the most highly emotional and irrational acts that you can take, and it usually involves male decision making for it to happen.
Current societies and cultures are, by and large Patriarchal, so the Matriarchal mindset doesn’t get much of a look in, especially when war is involved.
The instinct of a rational person if they feel threatened by someone else, is to try and calm things down or in the politicians parlance de escalate the situation.
This is a defensive move, which can be referred to as the first line of defence, and is usually simultaneously accompanied by the decision to back away from the source of the threat whilst weighing up all options available to them.
If the danger continues to grow, and the person who is threatening the intended target/victim, begins to attack them, then there are two options normally available to fall back on, which is to fight or flight.
By any logical metric, only an idiot or lunatic would want to start or provoke a fight without reason as the consequences could be devastating for either or both parties involved.
The way I see it, for as long as there is a heavy Patriarchal leaning in world politics, that isn’t tempered by a more Matriarchal political influence as well, then the barbarism of war will be a constant thorn in the side of our beleaguered civilisation.
