I think you have to lease for electric just now, things are changing so fast, and nobody really knows yet about longer term implications, second hand values, battery degradation, battery disposal, fire risk of older cars and the cost/benefit equation if take up increases, as govt and dealers have to maintain income. I see them very much as a town car, with a small efficient battery, rather than the monstrous SUVs or 'performance' cars with huge batteries that seem to have been the focus of many manufacturers up to now.
I'm sticking with petrol until our cars rot though. It's the greenest and most efficient and cost effective thing to do.
