EV charging

I think you have to lease for electric just now, things are changing so fast, and nobody really knows yet about longer term implications, second hand values, battery degradation, battery disposal, fire risk of older cars and the cost/benefit equation if take up increases, as govt and dealers have to maintain income. I see them very much as a town car, with a small efficient battery, rather than the monstrous SUVs or 'performance' cars with huge batteries that seem to have been the focus of many manufacturers up to now.

I'm sticking with petrol until our cars rot though. It's the greenest and most efficient and cost effective thing to do.

Edit, or get a company car like Wayne and Neathy! Privileged bastards 😆
Yes, my thoughts exactly. Going back into the company car scheme was part of my idea, but it was my commuting habits which eventually killed the idea.

I have had my Pod Point Solo 3 for 4 years it has been pretty good and when i did have an issue they sorted it very quickly and basically refurbished the entire thing.

I am on Octopus Intelligent go we have 2 EV’s and we manage it easily using the Octopus API and Pod charger.

The second hand price of EV’s is probably as low as they will get but are excellent value now, so many EV’s in particular Tesla, Kia/Hyundai and the chinese brands are being used as taxis or airport transfer and doing huge mileages with little or no problems.

A lot of the misinformation has been shown to be wrong and public charging not an issue (although still too expensive compared to europe).

BMW. A snip at £98k. 😉
A mate of mine has a BMW EV as a company car, it’s a lovely looking machine and goes like ….. off a shovel.

The car is 2 years old and the heating module (whatever that is broke) a few months ago, he had it repaired free of charge under warranty, had it been out of warranty it would have cost him £7k. That’s mental. I’ll be sticking with my old jalopy for now.

Thinking of putting the Lads car in for a Hyundai Tucson, he's dragging his feet though, he hasn't said what his choice is, wants to drive a Tucson first, when that'll be god knows.

I think I may have to use a dust pan and brush to move mine off the driveway soon.😂 Swansea is a car killer what with the rain, the damp and all the salt they use in the winter.

Youre not wrong, tell me about it, we've just been on the M4 up to Crapdiff and back, I've never seen it so bad, pot holes and missing wearing course every 20 yards, shocking.
This quality of road surface is going to be the cause of a serious accident one day. I have seen a few drivers on the M4 either swerving to avoid gaps in the wearing course, or thrown off course when their tyre enters a wide gap. Not a nice experience in the dark and wet.

Exactly what I was saying to the missus on the way back, bad enough in a car, if a motorcycle hits one of them, I dread to think of the consequences. But dont worry about it, all the bullshit forms have been filled in, so it's fine.👍

Said exactly the same thing on the weekend. It wont be long until some is seriously hurt on the motorway.

I have always been impatient over roadworks, but this year I am prepared to put up with them. I don’t recall seeing the M4 so bad for many years; even some newish sections of road surface are chewed up in places. Cue a string of night closures and diversions.

It's bad that you have to remember certain stretches of the M4 to ensure you're in a certain lane.
