Compare and contrast Idah's finish with Widdell's lack thereof. You will immediately see the difference between a goal scorer and a nearly man.
The first time strike took any chance of a block out of the equation - Melker's touch and steadying himself invited the defender to do his job.
For the record I love Melker - and he is going to be a great player for us- but he needs to work on his finishing, as he is becoming the nearly man, and nearly does not hack it.
You can’t compare and contrast Idah’s finish with Melker’s chance… they were nothing like the same opportunity.

It would have been a goal of the season contender had he found the back of the net hitting it first time from that position and angle

Your screenshot shows the oceans of space - if we cannot score from those positions we can forget challenging for the playoffs. Some players convert chances instinctively and others dont. I fear we have seen enough gilot edged chances drop to Melker to establish he is in the latter group.
I forget which game it was - but he also had a point blank header from 2-3 yards out and put it in the only place the keeper could throw up a hand and save it.
It is healthy that we see things differently - but if we cannot take these type of chances - and just throw up our hands and whine about our lack of luck - then we will remain a low scoring team.
it may be confidence, it may be practice - but Melker HAS to get better at converting opportunities.

He didn’t need to hit it first time, he was too slow between controlling the ball and hitting it because he shuffled his feet,

Idah’s goal took a deflection after Fulton passed it as well. He just adjusted his position more quickly.

Widell has promise but he needs to take some of the chances he’s getting.

Comparing seasoned strikers to midfielders in shot taking is very silly. Both footballers but completely different skill sets.

If he hit it first time people would say he should be showing composure and taking a touch  He did everything right, it was great Sheff Utd defending

I like Widell 's attitude & energy but for an attacking midfielder his finishing & composure in the penalty area is lacking.
I don't doubt he's a lovely lad but come on!
I've seen some comments saying he did everything right with his chance yesterday but that's absolute bollocks, he should have buried it - good clearance but I was right behind that & the defender should never have had the opportunity to clear it.
He's now made 37 appearances for us & hasn't scored a goal!
There needs to be some sort of end product.
Another player that im not writing off yet but if we're going to progress he has to contribute more

You are basically "writing him off".
Read your post back ffs 😂

Bullshit, I'm saying he has shown something but he has to improve.
Some of our posters are giving him way too much credit.
How would you assess an attacking midfielder who hasn't scored in 37 appearances & provided minimal assists?

i’ll give MW the benefit of the doubt since it’s his first season in a new country and (probably) the toughest league in the world, But some parameters should improve. Lets hope that he, ZI and the other new faces will follow VIP׳s second season.
