In my opinion, this is why we have to sell this summer when we can get the most possible for him.

There is every chance he reverts to a more normal scoring rate. From what I have seen, I would bet on Idah outscoring him next season if they both stayed. Will always remember this year though, some of the purest finishes you will ever see. Has been great to have him firing like this.

His normal scoring rate across his career is basically where he is now. One goal in about every 140-170 minutes of football. Even taking last season into account his overall rate here is a league goal every 171 minutes.

The fact that he's scoring "more goals than statistics would suggest" tells me that there's a problem with the statistics. Before all this bollocks came into the game he'd just have been described as a good finisher.

The club has 2 choices this summer

1. Try and keep him and hopefully he carries on his good form.
2. Sell him, selling him in the summer is likely going to be at the maximum of his value giving the season he is having.

The club will likely being prefer 1 of those options more than the other.

His weaknesses are a lack of pace and that he doesn't get involved as much in build up play as some managers would like (though he has improved greatly on this compared to last season).

His strengths are that he kicks a ball with both feet like it owes him money, is a lethal finisher who puts away more chances than on paper it seems like he should, the fact that he is only 24 and still has room to develop before he hits his peak and that he is a model professional who doesn't act out when he isn't getting game time (see last season).

The new contract does mean that there is zero pressure on the club to accept a lowball offer. They can comfortably set their price and tell other clubs to either meet it or jog on.

15-20m for the division's top scorer would be about the going rate, and those kind of funds would allow the club to bring in anywhere from three to six players to strengthen the squad overall.

I think he's quite an instinctive striker as well, doesn't need time to think about what he's going to do, just does it.

Personally I'd love to keep him at the club next season. I can also see the argument for selling at a decent fee and using the money to reinvest in the squad.

In an ideal world we don't need to cash in to reinvest.

I have thought the same, plus it took Gyokeres two seasons of healthy goal scoring before Sporting paid big money for him.

The big difference between Piroe and Vipotnik was that Piroe was heading into the final 12 months of his contract. It was get what we could for him or lose him for nothing at the end of the season. The club have managed to avoid a repeat by convincing Vipotnik to sign a new deal and have significantly strengthened their bargaining position.

That's because Piroe had the same concerns on how he can transfer his game to a higher level which have since be proved right.

15mill would be the absolute maximum value we will get Vip and we would have done an unbelievable job to get that. Im expecting around the same 10-12mill mark.

Good points on Piroe.

There is also the fact that Leeds were a Championship club when they bought him and that there was no bidding war which would have restricted the price. Can’t be relied upon fully but media reports stating lots of interest in Vipotnik.

The highest scoring season Gyokeres had in the championship was 21 goals which Vip has already matched. Only thing going against him is it’s only one season of scoring and Gyokores had 12 assists in his last season which is genuinely impressive for a striker.

We can ask for above £15m considering his contract situation and the fact that 20 goal strikers seem to be a rarity these days (just look at the PL and Championship).

If teams are only going to offer 10-12m then they're going to come away disappointed and empty handed

Honestly in a team that was giving him proper service Vipotnik could easily be past 30 goals for the season already. There are some goals he scored that he should have no right to do so but also some real sitters that he has missed too (the two chances away vs Coventry come to mind, add to that another couple of chances at home to Coventry too, the wrongfully disallowed goal against Birmingham, the goal stolen off the line by Stamenic)

Many teams will see a 24 year old who has banged in well over 40% of his team's goals this season with precious little service and while they might worry if its a one season wonder, the real danger with him having signed a new 4 year contract is that if he does it again next season the asking price won't be 15-20m anymore and there will potentially be a bidding war on their hands.
