Very disappointed in the complete lack of evolution and progression since VM has taken over, the football under Sheehans care taker period was far superior to what we’ve seen under Matos.
I was listening to talk sport last week and they were discussing Newcastle’s disappointing season, somebody said words to the affect of…they play high energy football but fall away in the second half as no team can keep that up, I think that applies perfectly to us as well.

Apart from the Wednesday game we haven’t had a single performance where it hasn’t been edge of the seat stuff, and our inability to trouble the sides above us is a major concern.

I really feel sorry for Vip, watching him charge around yesterday chasing down lost causes must be exhausting, absolutely no service which makes you wonder how the hell he’s managed to get the goals he has.

There was an instance yesterday where three of our players tried to hunt down their right back only for him to slip the ball to a team mate taking three players out and allowing their player to gallop forward and launch another cross into our box…schoolboy tactics.

Really struggling to see what the plan is and how we move forward playing this way, if Newcastle with their quality can’t maintain that level for ninety minutes then whatever recruitments we make in the close season I’m not holding out much hope for us either.

Really?
You should have mentioned this before.

I do agree that this high intensity press can't be maintained for 90 mins, and certainly not over the course of a full season. If Franco hadn't been out on his feet in the second half he may have buried that chance late on. Talking to someone coming out of the ground yesterday and he said " of all the fabulous sides we have had over the last 20 years how many actually employed this high intensity press as a,major weapon " not many i guess. It always has been with good players to let the ball do the work , just guess we haven't got enough creative and skilful players to carry that out.

I’m amazed how many people seem happy with the way things are going, we truly are a one trick pony

No, we haven't got the players to maintain the gegenpress for 90 minutes. Matos is a disciple of Klopp but Klopp had Salah, Mane and Firminho as an attacking force.
What it has done is see us move the ball quicker and disrupt the opposition and stop them playing their game.
Talking to Southampton fans after the game they reckoned that was as tough a game as they've had on their long unbeaten run.
We need a deeper squad to maintain the press for 90 minutes with substitutes who are at the same level as those they replace.
We probably can't afford the squad to do that but we are what we are and we're a competitive mid table Championship team.
We're probably going to have to sell at least one to buy a few more who can play Matos' tactics for the full game.

Oh right, so Newcastle with their budget can’t do it but if we sell Vip or Galbraith and bring in a very optimistic 20mill then we’ll be ok?
Right I get it now.
