• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I agree with the above post. SamParker was having a great game and providing attacking impetus. Ward is a defender. Fulton for Stamenic is, in my opinion, definitely not “like for like”. Nunes just didn’t settle and hasn’t done a great deal for us - does he have to play a certain number of games?

Like too many recent managers, Matos seems intent on defending a one goal lead or even a draw (yesterday). His substitutions exuded negativity, as they have done in the second half most of this year. We had nothing to play for so why not try to win / score more?

Froze my nuts off watching that. It is a relatively easy game. One team attacks one way and the other team attacks the opposite way. Why then do we always seem to be playing the same way as the opposition? 70 % of backward and sideways possession whereas Derby just attacked whenever they had...

    The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

Vitor Matos seems to have a different approach to our recent 4 managers. I’d be quite happy to see him given a go. I want to see some balls into the box, shots, goals - not the garbage I’ve paid for over years.

Would agree if we had Roberto Carlos and Dani Alves at their prime but we ain’t gonna get that in the championship. Stick round pegs in round holes, don’t confuse with “ inverted play” ( whatever that is) and attack. Easy

Difficulty with such appointments is that, if it goes tits up - everybody annoyed with all. If a half succesful season, Leeds or some other crappy previously ok team will poach in 12 months. As long as he doesn’t play 5 at the back, I’m fully on board

Yes. Towards the end of the game “we want Sheehan out” loud and repeated. North bank gave him loads because the organisation was crap and the players hadn’t a clue what they were supposed to do. I don’t believe that anybody was booing the players - but that is my feeling.

Giving up! We were 4-1 down at home with the worst display for years! That’s why many walked out. The rest stayed to see the stick that Sheehan was going to get. We have a far better squad than our current position.

When Josh Key first came to us, he looked great. Confident, taking on players, often best player on the pitch. Is it really his fault that he is made to take theblame for everything, or is he not supported or coached properly. Wasn’t Franco at fault for 2 goals today? Couldn’t see for sure in...

This was a dire performance brought on by Sheehan’s tactics (or lack of). Thank feck we’ll have seen the back of that ridiculous back 5 that has never worked and was painful to watch today. The referee wasn’t shite. The players didn’t give him much choice and he could easily have sent Tymon off...

The difference a manager can make.

Don’t care who the manager is as long as we don’t play 5 at the back.

This was always the outcome when the team news was announced . Back 5 and Cullen on the wing. Another game lost because of the manager. Sheehan has been negative all season, trying to protect one goal leads or draws. This was a formation to try and prevent Man City scoring too many against us...

Preston are better than us because we have a line of 5 at the back marking 2 Preston attackers. This leaves us short in every other area. Nobody wide, nobody central. This will be a hiding if not changed.

I hate 5 at the back. It’s negative, sitting back, nobody in front of the full backs to pass out to. Has never worked and never will with championship players. 1 down already. Shite.

We’ve tried a back 5 many time since relegation and it has never worked. It sounds a great system but it inevitably becomes defensive, negative and has always stultified attacking intent. After a few miserable games of trying it out again, we’ll turn back to 4 at the back as has always happened.
