    NFL 2025

The Raiders have an abysmal Monday Night Football record. Tonight is no exception, but if the Raiders can score 17 points in the last 35 seconds they'll force overtime. Sob.

    NS&I Premium Bonds

Yonks ago - maybe 2005 - I stopped throwing money in Camelot's direction and started buying Premium Bonds. I had some early small wins, decided this was my meal ticket, so began chucking bigger and bigger wedges into Premium Bonds, ireinvesting any winnings. I'm now at the maximum allowance. I...

    O2 price rises

We were with Tiscali then Tinyworld for yonks and it was dirt cheap. But we had some intermittent issues with connectivity even when we upgraded to their fibre offering. Dealing with their call centres used to boil my piss because of 1) their insistence on adhering to a moronic call script and...

    O2 price rises

I pay £5 for 5GB with Lebara. It's been flawless so far (approx five months in). Lebara uses the Vodafone network. Apparently users of GiffGaff / Lebara / any other cheapy will get a degraded service if there are lots of (for example) O2 customers trying to connect to the same mast. I've no...

    NFL 2025

Following the Raiders is like having a mate who used to be brilliant but has lost his way, always a bit too drunk these days, saying stuff, kicking off with strangers, until it reaches the stage where you don't answer his calls as it's just too cringeworthy spending time with him. And that's my...

    NFL 2025

The Raiders have tried their damnedest to lose this match v Jacksonville but against all odds it's 23-all in overtime. Unfortunately my race is run and I'm off to bed.

    What Ewe Watching

The review I read of the latest series of Slow Horses gave it a bit of a hammering, but no doubt I'll give it a go. There are so many series mentioned on here where I think "I started watching but can't remember how far I got or what it was like/about". Old age, I guess.

    Men’s Mental Health

There's a few strands of police tape around a tree in Singleton Park again. No idea what went on (beyond a suicide by hanging) but the tree is close to the uni. It'd feel odd checking in on every young person mooching around the park. There's hundreds passing through every day. But then...

The Birds In The Garden And Everywhere Else Thread

I found one on the Roamwild website that sounds perfect. 2 problems. It's fifty quid. It's out of stock. I might stick with my current ones and try and shape a bit of plastic into a cone and shove it into the bottom to help drain my nuts.

    Caerphilly

That's understandable. Sausages can hurt when thrown with force. I can't escape the sense that the people of Caerphilly have simply voted to oppose something rather than for anything in particular. They've just backed the best option whatever that may bring.

The Birds In The Garden And Everywhere Else Thread

Edit: to Muteswan re: cage feeder. . My only reservation with something like that is the small birds become jailbirds if an apex predator rocks up and waits for them. But the sloped base is exactly what I think will work.

The Birds In The Garden And Everywhere Else Thread

I bought some magpie/squirrel-proof bird feeders for nuts. They work in that respect but they have sealed bottoms, meaning water collects in the base of the feeders and rots the nuts. They're a PITA to clean, then the next time it rains I've got to do it again. Anyone got any suggestions for...

Travel to the good ol USA

If you're Facebook friends with someone who posts some anti-American stuff then you're at risk of being refused admission. Here's one that kind of amused me (in a facepalm way): https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-16810312.amp They've been asking for one's social media account details on the...

Travel to the good ol USA

Enjoy your trip, @Pacemaker though if you can stretch to a helicopter transfer rather than sailing direct from South America that, I'm told, is a worthy investment 😀. I'm put off visiting the US at present. The thought, no matter how ludicrous it seems, of a border guard showing me printouts of...
