For the first time in decades it seems like we need to take the threat seriously regarding a potential conflict.

There’s a lot of talk of defence spending going up to 3% of GDP.

I think the Gov should be bold and commit to this and potentially more. It’s actually an opportunity to boost the industrial base as well. But I think a key element of this is that spending should be from within our own borders and not to the States.

To do this I think the Government could increase a penny or more on tax and explain that it will fund the continued support of Ukraine and allies.

Trump is a wake up call but if we’re smart we can use this as an opportunity to be a strong leader in Europe again.

In another age I would say that you were mad... now, however, it is an unfortunate but "unavoidable" future. Even Americans are wondering that if Trump doesn't get Zelenskyy to give him half a billion dollars worth of resources, Trump might support Putin in subjugating Ukraine. What then for Europe, nations that Putin wants as they were former Soviets and the rest to show that he is greater than Peter or Catherine.

This also means that the Britain MUST engage with a greater European security apparatus.

Nah. He's mad 👍

Not at the moment, just a daft old orange cunt tub thumping.

Hopefully the rest of the civilised world will call him out.
This “daft old orange cunt” just happens to be the President of the United States and his right hand man the richest most powerful man in the world.

I understand your response it’s not nice to really accept reality.
