England v Latvia

We can hate England all we want, but this isn't the Ministry of Truth, facts are facts. Southgate achieved England's second, third and joint fourth best tournament performances.

If you're saying no manager is a success unless they win the tournament they're in, that's some pretty harsh criteria.
All depends what you define as success.

Well if we need to be pedantic about this, I'll amend my statement to 'Gareth Southgate managed England to their second, third and joint fourth best finishes in international tournaments in their history.'

Most reasonable people, who aren't digging their heels in for no apparent reason, would likely see him as England's second best manager ever, after the manager who achieved their best finish in an international tournament.

Not being pedantic at all.

We clearly have a huge difference of opinion with what success looks like.

Based on your logic, Rob Page is Wales most successful manager.
