Summer Transfer Window

Arthur Parker (who was named as an unused sub in one of our games this season) is a centre half who won the u21 player of the season award last night. He is only 18 too, might definitely be one to benefit from a season out on loan next year

I meant Sam Parker. Yes loan for Arhtur. Think Sam, Lissah and Govea should all be first team focused this season. We need to bring some players through. Its been too long since we brought through the likes of McBurnie & James and made a killing. Our finances depend on selling some players

What would make me happy this window in order of priority. But my gut tells me its going to be different by a long shot.

1. Lewis O'Brien
2. Franco - do not sell
3. Hector Kyprianou
4. Joe Low
5. Experienced loan cover full back who can play both right and left side.
6. No 9
7. Joe Allen
8. Darling

Bonuses
Lissah, Govea, Sam Parker given 1st team game time/exposure
Cooper, Congereve, Cotterill established in 1st team. Ollie is.

Sales:
Yates, Cullen and anything we can get for others like Kuka altho with Vig humping the ball up field so much now his height might be useful.

Deadwood
Unload as many as possible to reduce wasted wage bills. Pederson, Tjoa, Christie, Naughton etc

U21's
Adopt a policy of bringing them through. We havent done this since Ollie and James

Think we probably have to let Allen and Naughton both move on at this point. Allen's still looked decent this season, but he can't even last 60 minutes anymore, and he'll comfortably be one of our biggest earners

I hope we can offer both Allen & Naughton a reduced playing role, along side the opportunity to go into coaching.
Retaining some old heads might even persuade Ben Davies to come home from Spuds too.

We can only afford to keep Naughton and Allen if we pay a low basic wage with generous bonuses for appearances. Allen will want to play in another World Cup, so that strengthens our hand in negotiations. Any deals must be good for the club.

I can't see Ben joining yet, but in a couple of seasons there will be a good chance.

Hopefully.
I thought the links to him were wishful thinking, but with the Modric link & the apparent Spurs interest from one of the owners - maybe more too it?

The academy is producing we just need an approach that lets them in the 1st team. From the academy awards night write up.

Internationally, 25 academy players were called up for their respective nations at age-grade levels from under-15s to under-21s, and there were a record number of academy graduates in the senior Wales squad this March international break.

I'd take Allen for 60 mins rather than you-know-who for 90 mins any day of the week

I honestly find it a bit mad that people are so keen to keep Allen. I appreciate he's a Swans boy, but we've got to take the rose-tints off, and realise that we're advocating for the club to spend (I am guessing here) at least £10k a week on a 35 year-old second-choice midfielder who is unable to play a full game of football.

Could you imagine if this was someone we were looking to sign over the Summer? 'He's great, but only has half a game in him, and will retire next year. Also, he'll earn more than half the squad'.

I love the bloke, but we have to move on.

Ben Davies has only played 24 games so far this season and only played 19 games last season. He'd be another Joe Allen if he came back, one of the highest paid players who spends more time in the treatment room than on the pitch.

Someone said the other day, we need to get over this fascination with bringing former players back when they are well past their best. Look to develop the younger players instead, they cost a fraction of the wages and will give more of a return in the long run

He’s had one injury this season that kept him out for six weeks. The main reason he’s only played 24 games is that Ange hasn’t picked him.

Are you sure? Because he's only been on the bench 10 times (in all competitions) this season, so he hasn't even made the matchday squad for the other games?
