Three year deal is pretty standard isn't it?
I think so. First season is for improvement, second season for a push up the table/competing at the sharp end, third season - well if you can’t do it in three seasons you ain’t gonna do it.

Would he have accepted two years? Would anyone any good? Did he have offers elsewhere?

Too many questions.

Well deserved imo. Wasn’t convinced at first but his record speaks for itself.

Let’s hope the permanent signing of Lewis O’Brien and Harry Darling follows.

Hopefully he will have a neat list of contacts and connections he plans on utilising this summer.

No one has to be convinced but whatever happens the Swansea City Roller coaster continues. I have no doubts that there will be spells of excruciating to watch football as needs must under AS but I don’t doubt that even if he flunks it he’ll have us sitting more comfortably in the table than his recent predecessors.

They must have put some sort of exit clause in there - in order to get of the contract if needs be.
Here's hoping they won't need it though

If they'd tried Sheehan would probably have told them to piss off.

Agreements like the one we had with Rodgers are rare. A quick Google suggests that Plymouth, Blackburn, WBA, Derby Stoke and Luton all appointed their new bosses on 3-3.5 year deals. It very much seems to be the divisional standard, and I doubt that Sheehan would have sold himself short by accepting less, or less security at least.

Indeed, but some of those clubs were in deep relegation trouble and had little leverage. Plus they're appointing seasoned managers with experience of being the number 1 (some with decent championship records).

We are in a position of strength now so I would have gone for a 2 year deal with a club option for 1 more or even more inventive, say the third year automatically gets applied with a top 10 finish etc.

Ultimately I don't think it matters a great deal. Whether it's 2 or 3.

Manager contracts usually have performance metrics. The guy goes under water on metrics and he can be removed cheaply. If you understand that, then the apparently strange timing of some dismissals makes sense.

I think Brendan also had a 12 month rolling deal when he went to Celtic, so maybe that's a Rodgers thing.
