The long term benefit is higher for us to hire a journeyman keeper for a year in a position where injuries tend to be rare while the most likely successors can genuinely challenge for a place between the sticks for their loan clubs.

For a goalkeeper being too good for the u21s but not experienced enough for the first team is a death sentence. If they don't get someone who takes a punt on them on loan they can go an entire year without any real growth or development or experience.

Besides its only a one year deal for Farman, it also means we are now in a position where we COULD move on Fisher if an offer came in.

So you'd be happy to have a 35 year old keeper whose played the majority of his games in the National League to play in 6 or 7 league games because of injury.

I know its rare, but it does happen.

I would rather give an ex Premier League or Championship keeper, whose looking at retirement an easy last season. Cost more, yes, but how much will it cost of the worse happens?

Farman is the very definition of a journeyman - however - he is 5 inches taller than the Fish - so might have a tad more presence than the invisible man?

I'm 5ft 8 and I look 5 inches tall than the fish

I know where he played his football, but he played in only one game for us all season and I still have nightmares about him

How much of a budget do you think we have? Should we pay out five grand a week for a proven Championship keeper to not even sit on the bench on the very slim possibility that we might need him?
