There's an aspect of this Kirk saga that bothers me and in fact a caller into James OBrien on LBC made a similar point; the caller is an American now living in Brighton.

His point was that Kirk was little more than a wordsmith, skilled in the art of debate and knowledgeable on many subjects. In these days of "pay per click" social media, I can almost imagine him saying "you know what, the more sh*t I post, the more clicks I get and the richer I become!". No wonder he was such a defender of "free speech". I put Andrew Tate in the same category along with the so-called "shock jocks". In years gone by, there were several US TV evangelists fleecing the dumb.
I made the point earlier that he was in showbiz not politics.

This is something that needs to be looked at by YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok etc., the algorithms seem to push hate/disagreement/arguments/violence (whatever you want to call it) and this is what gets the views rolling in, making money for the content creator. They are pushed into creating controversy. It is indeed a ‘shock jock’ scenario but with a much easier opportunity to go viral and reach millions, billions of people within days.

You even see channels like Sky Sports on YouTube putting ‘HEATED DEBATE’ in nearly every single title, even when there no element of an argument whatsoever. I think this bubble is about to burst, if the Kirk assassination hasn’t already burst it.

'oh I'm too busy with work, let's have a termination'. This is such a stupid argument, nobody is using abortions as contraceptive outside of the fringest of cases. Most will be doing it because they are in a terrible situation and deserve enormous sympathy rather than condemnation. I get why people are anti abortion, it is untimately extinguishing a human life if nature takes its course. But inventing scenarios to try to paint those who have them as some hedonistic demons does your argument no favours.
Fair enough, it was a rather flippant comment. I do understand that when a woman contemplates termination, it’s a lot more complex than just using it as a form of contraception.

There’s no excuse for abortion to be a form of contraception. You’ve got contraception and the morning after pill freely available if in doubt. It’s abhorrent to use abortion as a form of contraception in my view.

I wasn’t familiar with the name Charlie Kirk (CK) but did recognise the pic of him on BBC. I then went about reading a few of his views and it quickly became apparent that he was another mouthpiece of the MAGA master race and grovelling devotee of the orange opioid himself. A gobshite, basically. He advocated for the continuation of the ‘freedom’ of people to gun up, even though gun violence is categorised as a public health crisis. I hear now, after he’s been shot, lots of other mouthpieces (across the political spectrum) claiming that violence ‘has no place’ in political discourse in the USA. The USA is one of the most violent countries on the planet……” Violence is a part of America’s culture. It is as American as cherry pie”, so it is inevitable that violence will seep into their politics, and it has done many times. The public access to a vast array of military grade weaponry is an obscenity and the fact that many celebrate this access is incomprehensible to me. CK died in a very violent and obscene way, in a very violent and obscene country. What I think of that on an emotional or human level is utterly irrelevant. The freedom loving, God fearing capitalists of the USA, literally voted, prayed and paid, for outcomes like this. They weren’t silenced, they won the debate! CK’s and countless thousands of other deaths are a direct result of winning that debate.

Great post.

The other thing with winning that debate as you rightly pointed out, is that they also get to choose who their martyrs are. When a Democrat and their family gets shot dead, ah well that's just too bad.

I find it a very challenging area. What I cannot comprehend is how being anti abortion is an abhorrent position. It sounds counter intuitive to me.

I however do think women should have rights under the law but it should never be a non debate. Again back to the central issue on this whole thread.

I actually got persuaded by Stella Creasy on this one when she spoke about the legal safeguards. Amazing isn’t it a soft left Labour MP who I naturally don’t agree with and she persuaded me. What are the chances aye.
“I however do think women should have rights under the law”

How gracious of you.

lol.

I totally agree it's "the woman's choice". I am pro-abortion. The issue I have is that people are silenced when they give their views/beliefs on the subject. Even if it changes 1 woman's/girls mind about abortion and that child lives. Isn't that worthy of the discussion?
It’s their choice, having a rhetoric shoved done their throats about God and life isn’t a discussion.

if you can’t see that then you crack on in the weird bubble you line your life in 👍🏼

Fair. It could have been worded better. But that’s just my view. I don’t like the idea of it. But I do believe in the law as things stand.

Genuinely mate what is wrong with you?

Why are you always looking to add needle to everything.

The best part is she has to make sure we all knew she knew it was AI in case anyone thought it may be real.
