Graham Potter

His reluctance to one keeper and stick with his choice probably clouds my judgement of him. It;s like he was trying to make his name as some progressive inventor of the game of football.

I think you're right about me being over critical of him during the season he was with us. I just can't stand what he represents in terms of how the game is played.
Fair enough 👍

Possibly I’m biased the other way in that I just don’t think he’s anything like some of the other managers we’ve had in terms of arrogance (arguably you need that to succeed at the top level) or being wedded to one way of playing.

He’s definitely lost his chance of a long career at the top by going to Chelsea & West Ham though. Obviously his bank balance will be ok but I’d also argue he deserves it more than many others after a journeyman career in the lower leagues and then uprooting his family to Northern Sweden in order to become a coach.

He does strike me as a very humble guy.

Chelsea was possibly the wrong club for him, I do have a feeling the his time at Brighton was possibly coming to end as well though.

Do you think the game has evolved from the way he wants the game tomorrow to be played? It's almost like he's become old fashioned.

Totally agree with what you've said about him taking a punt and moving abroad to better himself, can't deny him anyone of taking a chance, I wish more people, me included did that.

Always felt that any set price in our half - corner, throw in, free kick, was going to end up in the back of our net. Could not defend balls in to the box and it was slightly depressing as the football wasn’t too bad.

I do think the game has evolved in the last few years.

Unless you’re at the very top level, where you can attract the best players, I think you always need to adapt as a coach/manager.

Possibly the increase in data will lead to things changing more quickly and more often as people interpret it differently.

Hopefully the days of ‘all’ managers wanting to copy a Wenger, Jose, Pep or Klopp are gone as the contrast in styles is what makes football interesting and enjoyable for me.

This is true and seems to be the same at West Ham - although having Nordefelt in goal and a small and inexperienced team can’t have helped

Is this when St Potter finally loses his wings?
The man who failed us most?
Who couldnt get THAT team even into the playoffs, and then fkd off at the first opportunity?
Hes looking mighty rough these days.
Milton wrote Paradise Lost (part ii), you know, but it was lost in the crypts.
Its happening right now. Shame.

Even with unlimited resources we’re seeing Pep struggle.

It appears he only knows one way of playing and he’s been found out.

Not sure I’d say he’s only got one way of playing. The formation and shape has changed lots over the years at City.

What he clearly struggled with last year was adapting when teams attack them and press high. Will be interesting to see what happens this year as they’ve certainly got the players to play in a more high tempo athletic manner now.

Watch this space… lol

The season is at its early stage, the results so far could suggest not a lot has changed, they were found out again by Spurs and Brighton.

I can’t see him being there next season unless something drastically changes with his approach.
