Another gutless performance

Let's be honest about this and that we are just another iteration of a Russell Martin or a Luke Williams team. We pass the ball about a lot at times with little purpose and most of our play is at walking pace. Compare and contrast to Leicester who ran about and chased a loose ball and were often first to it ahead of most of the players in our side. We appear to have had a half decent window (although it's not overly clear that it was anything more than average) but we don't seem to have created a team that can compete consistently.

The good news is we will always be mid table because, well, we are a mid table team.

Before this game Leicester had only 2 shots on target in their previous 2 games, of course they’ll then go and bang 3 in against us.
I’m not sure that’s relevant. We could all see they were a good side. Physically they were stronger and quicker and good footballers. We won’t play many better teams this season.

The OP is a joke really. There was also a very negative reaction in the ground at half time which surprised me. Booing your team off after a fairly even game to that point is mindless. We seem to have had an influx of pissed up little entitled shits. But then to be fair, after a few more beers and probably some Colombian marching powder everyone was much more up for the second half!

I wouldn’t say gutless but the indecisiveness around the opposition box is a big problem for us at the moment, especially considering we only seem to attack down the wings this season. It just seems to stop as soon as we get to the final third.

We’re second bottom for touches in the opposition box, got to improve this if we want to be competing higher up. Different contexts but looking at someone like Coventry at the moment, it’s night and day. They’ve had more than double our touches in opposition penalty areas.
There was one point we ended up in their box, we actually did nothing and instead the ball ended back up in our defence, shocking imo.

The team are their own worst enemy ATM. They need to get out of this mentality but this international break will not help. They need to be drilled as we cannot keep hoping for scraps around the opposition goal!

I personally see this as an injustice because, as we've seen, they're capable of sublime shots and great goals - they just lack the courage to maintain consistent pressure.

I’m not one to moan when the ball goes back at times as I don’t mind patient build up play but when you’re literally in the opposition box, the ball should never be leaving there unless cleared by a defender. You can’t beat the press and then unbeat it.

Both had 7 shots on target and we amassed more xG. Considering their squad is worth treble ours, I thought we did extremely well.

Leicester are a top side who I expect to be in the Premier League next season.

This isn't in question - today was always going to be tough. However, my point was, had our players taken CHANCES... shots at range which we know they're capable of, the results may have been different.

There was one point when Burgess just stood on the ball after we’d passed it back from the edge of their box and I could see him channelling his inner Wood-Gordon. I’m still hoping for better. We do pass through lines sometimes now, it’s just we don’t really know what to do next 😆

I do think there’s a big difference in play since Sheehan took over permanent vs how it was when he was in temporary charge I think it was a lot more exciting and adventurous when he was in temporary charge, but nonetheless he’s still done and is doing a decent enough job, but I don’t think the owners will want to settle for mid table after spending 20M.

Really? I don’t think that his caretaker days brought about a different approach to the game. Whilst the results were good, it was hardly fast free flowing football (a phrase someone once coined on here).

Only Vipotnik is capable from range really. Galbraith, but he was rested for most of it. I suppose the argument is we are more effective closer range so better to try and work the ball into the box than strike from range, as Cabango showed in the 97th min.

It wasn't gutless but it wasn't great.

We are becoming a "safe" team which is very disappointing in itself.
We are an average team, a team who will be hard to play against but also lacks creativity to really hurt teams often enough.

Idah will score for fun from eight yards or less out, feet or head 👍.

For Sheehan and D O'D to work out how to play him in #obvious #literally 🇮🇪 🙋‍♂️
