Flew into Stockholm earlier having regrettably missed the match and the passport entry queues at Arlanda Airport were very lengthy. Took 90 minutes to process a plane of 120 passengers, with 4 booths open.

Fingerprints, photos which are a new EU rule.

Load of bollocks from the EU. If you are going to illegally enter it is highly unlikely you will do so on a BA flight from Heathrow to Arlanda where the security at the British end is equally tight.

Ironically, there were two Eurocrats on the flight who were fast tracked through passport control so they didn't have to endure their ridiculous rules.

This biometric stuff is a direct result of Brexit and the deal Boris agreed with the EU, we are now a “third country” and have to comply. It’s my understanding it’s a 1 off and that once you’ve provided biometrics it’ll be a lot quicker when you next visit the EU.

Our hoped for trip next year looks like it wont happen so our trip in 2027 ,and me being a dopey 75 yr old w, the Bio process will probably take as long as the holiday.....thanks a bunch the self serving Twots and Boris.

There is a phased roll out for this and it’s not yet in place everywhere; Bologna on Tuesday was still using the traditional method. Will see what Vienna is like tomorrow.

Let’s hope that the IT infrastructure is up to the task. Lag in the system coupled with lethargic immigration staff won’t make for a pleasant experience.

They had to is system when I came back from holiday about ten days ago. Passport in machine, finger print one finger and photo taken all at the same time. No issues bar a couple of seconds for one or two people that couldn’t grasp it.

This makes me sad 😔
Sad, angry. I know it drives you mad because it’s the elephant in the room.

We are stuck in this strange limbo situation where everyone knows the truth (including many Brexit supporters) but we can’t speak the truth because that upsets some.

You think people who advocated for it for years/decades would love talking about it. Funny they don’t isn’t it.

Literally everything it has promised has gone in opposite direction:

Less red tape - way more!

Less immigration - way more!

More freedom - massive increase in bureaucracy

Splintering of the Union

Global laughing stock

Investment down

Honestly it’s crazy when you think about it. But the chancers have got away with it because the people who know the truth are not on the pitch. They’ve just let them control the narrative.

How the fuck is Nigel Farage ahead in the polls?!!! Ahead?!!!! No man has done more damage to this Country since the luftwaffe.

If we lived in a true democracy with a population that is overwhelmingly aware of the facts these reform charlatans would be chased out of town. Not the immigrants who in many cases are keeping the Country afloat!!!

Not smooth through Vienna this morning. Bone idle gate agents, idiot travellers who looked like they were leaving their village for the first time, computer systems running on ZX Spectrum size memory and only three open gates, translated into a long queue time. We were one of the first off of the plane but there was already about sixty people in front of us when we arrived at immigration. EES was in full swing with photos, fingerprints and passport stamping all in place.

Excellent post, but you maybe didn't emphasise enough the massive economic damage it has done and continues to do to the UK. We're talking about people's livelhoods here. Our GDP is down 4% as a direct result. Every week there's a new horror story.
Last week it was the Scottish shellfish company who had to write off two consignments to European customers (worth £200k) because of customs difficulties. Brexit may well be terminal for the UK steel industry. Goodbye Port Talbot steelworks.
Farage and his cronies ought to be strung up with piano wire.

You're absolutely spot on.

And to me this where you need a government that can show true leadership, not shy away from it, and face the idiocy head on. By coming out and saying this is absolutely ridiculous, we've shot ourselves in the foot, this cannot go on, it is damaging the country, it is our duty to look after the economic interests of the country, we are going to start to repair the damage by reapplying to join the common market. Oh and by the way, that's just the start, we will do whatever else we see fit to put us back on an even keel.

And to hell with the Daily Mail and Farage and GB News and the rest of them, the people behind these outlets are muppets, they need tackling head on.

Of course the chances of that happening under this administration is the same as Gary Glitter making a comeback!
