5 frames from the Sky highlights

#1 the point at which Eom toe pokes the ball with his right foot, defender is clearly nowhere near the ball
#2 as Eom plants his right foot, defender's left foot clearly makes contact with it, ball is now 1.5m away
#3 & #4 & #5 as defender is sliding in, his momentum takes his left foot over the top of Eom's right foot, preventing him from moving it and tripping him up

He shit out because it was so early in the game.
I don't think it helped that it was a home player also and knowing that the Manager is a choosy bugger.

It all adds up.

I will say, watching it in full speed makes it very hard to call especially with one viewing. Agree that it's a foul, but we're sat here going frame-by-frame

My rule is if I could have had no complaints if it was given against us then it was a definite foul

If that had been say Ben Cabango and he cropped their player in the 1st minute like that and got sent off then I would have had no complaints

Absolutely. If only there was a way of reviewing things like that to help referees make an informed decision........... hmmmmm, maybe one day

Tbh, what annoyed me enough to do this was reading some Charlton fans claiming it was the "tackle of the season" when it's quite clear that the defender got nowhere near the ball which was what I'd thought when I first saw the replays.

Yet the exact same referees will make terrible decisions on much less. It's become incredibly ridiculous and tiresome - most when people start excusing these referees and claiming these decisions will "even out over a season"... These referees have ridiculous power over the trajectory of teams and yet have so little real accountability.

It's clear some teams hold more weight with referees than others... aka, bias.

Every team in the league thinks that a ref is biased against them, it's nonsense, they're just crap. Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetency.

That makes the assumption VAR would actually go on and do anything about it, and that is a collosal assumption to make.

The other week a Chelsea player nearly decapitated a Brighton attacker in the box, they didn't even give a penalty never mind a red card.

VAR is shite. EFL is better off without it.

My thoughts exactly.

They aren't biased to any team. They're equally as shit to all.

Liverpool game last night was another example.

Appears to be a blatant penalty in the first half for a handball, reviewed and then it's not even a free kick, let alone a penalty.
