O'Dea - Reason For Our Downfall?

I'm definately in the blame O'dea camp, I think his influenceover Sheehan is the major reason we have been so poor this season, however the buck stops with Sheehan.

Yes the assistant should give advice but Sheehan should have been making the decisions and also setting the tone and if he was so weak that he was taking bad advice and running with it then the outcome he got is well deserved.

I wonder how involved in the Idah signing O'dea was ?
That may be a unfortunate legacy he leaves.

Don't know if O'Dea is an issue, I do feel the loss of the experience of Joe Allen and Kyle Naughton plus the loss of O'Brien for the new season had a big part in Sheehan losing his way.
Maybe O Brian covered up a lot of what we needed. Yes we have been needing a 10 for years. But realistically I think Sheehan showed alongside O Dea that they couldn't set up a team that could play each week. He openly said he felt the players was not up to 2 games a week and that every game he changed things around to set up against the opposition
That's all fine but while doing that he forgot one thing.. You have to work on your own strengths first and weakness and then adapt to who you are playing. And not other way round.

This O'Dea stuff is ridiculous. Even if he was overly influential in Sheehan's decision making, that reflects terribly on Sheehan. He was the manager, he had the final say on decisions regarding selection and tactics, so it shows he wasn't cut out to be a manager if he didn't have the willpower and conviction to make his own decisions. Not that I think that's what happened.

As others have said, the common denominators in our consistent failings over recent seasons have been the players and those running the club. If you're still blaming it all on managers and coaches when our last 4 managers have been failures, you're starting to sound like a broken record.

Load of anti - Irish bolloxs in my honest opinion. We were broken long before O'Dea was appointed. Some called him out the day after he joined because of his (apparent) love of Gaelic football and his potential for being a coach at Fairwood.
Hey now don’t be so touchy! Just because he came from your favourite team didnt mean he could do no wrong. He definitely alienated the players and was heard swearing at them during games. His arrival coincided with a much more negative set up and performances than Sheehan produced at the back end of last season.
Good riddance as far as I’m concerned.

Haven't we all been swearing at the players during matches?

Has he gone? Has Stearman. I'd like the whole caboodle out the door KoL included.

Yeah but he’s the coach - he should be trying to constructively advise them rather than calling them c*nts

Some of them need a rocket up the arse. I've got no issues with him calling him what you've suggested.

If they didn't play like c*nts, that would have helped the situation.

Have we really reached the point where managers and coaching staff can't shout hurty words at the players?

Can’t they do that in training or behind closed doors? There’s no better motivational tool for the opposition when our own coaches call our players c*nts. So I heartily fucking disagree.

Maybe we should stop playing in the rain as well, last thing we want is them getting their hair wet.
