The Ospreys

Why can't our AM's and MP's get involved and outvote those members of the WRU as there are other things at stake. I was in Llanelli today and the ones I spoke to don't seem bothered that the Ospreys could fold. The Swansea boy in me wants them to fold at that point.

It might help if people realise the WRU are funding the clubs.
And on a side I’ve never heard such nonsense in sport, imagine the FAW funding and controlling us and you won’t go far wrong Big J.

Plus the WRU is controlled by the amateur hobby clubs, who get a guaranteed 11m funding and hate the professional clubs. So imagine us being financially captive to the FAW and being controlled by Welsh amateur football clubs. When you've got your head around that, imagine the FAW negotiates - badly - which leagues we play in and we end up in a league with Caersws All Stars, Limererick Rovers and Lochgelly United, and they also negotiate - badly - any TV deals, get all the tournament and TV income direct to FAW and decide how much we get.

Then you're somewhere close to what these Regions have had to cope with, before you get to how they've actually run themselves.

As an illustration. Ga=reth Davies was an excellent experienced in business and rugby WRU chair and wanted to push through serious changes that would reduce hobby club control and drag Wales into the professional era. So hobby clubs could see an end to their gravy train and control and called an EGM and voted to replace him with a retired geography teacher Robert Butcher from the committee of somewhere like Old Abercwmfuckwitonians ('Geog Bob').

The Amateur clubs have caused a lot of problems for the WRU, what they say goes just how the fuk can that happen when the game at higher level in "profesional."

And they're off... 🐎

They’d be mad not to, especially if they can commute to somewhere like Glaws if they want. The WRU wankers will try and keep Morgan, but maybe he doesn’t fancy playing for Cardiff, and wants to play in a better league.

Plus, as someone else said somewhere, if my agent wasn’t trying to get me a move out of the whole shitshow over the last few months, I’d get a new agent. Rumours on another site about 5 more players now including Edwards, Williams and Hardy, and that half the Scarlets backline are going to Cardiff.

Not sure it's a better league in terms of quality - at the top end anyway.

Definitely better for Welsh players in terms of the financial package, travelling and family life though, so totally understandable that they'd want to play in that league (or in France for that matter)!

With this exodus I'd be surprised if the 3 teams that remain for 2026-27 are any more competitive in the URC or Europe than the 4 are this season.

They won’t be. It’s a pipe dream until the WRU wants to be serious about professional rugby, and not about gorging itself and the amateur game. So, never.

We’ll be at two in no time, and then probably just one - Cardiff, controlled and run by WRU, trying to be Leinster, and 95% of Wales won’t give a toss.
