The Ospreys

Why can't our AM's and MP's get involved and outvote those members of the WRU as there are other things at stake. I was in Llanelli today and the ones I spoke to don't seem bothered that the Ospreys could fold. The Swansea boy in me wants them to fold at that point.

It might help if people realise the WRU are funding the clubs.
And on a side I’ve never heard such nonsense in sport, imagine the FAW funding and controlling us and you won’t go far wrong Big J.

Plus the WRU is controlled by the amateur hobby clubs, who get a guaranteed 11m funding and hate the professional clubs. So imagine us being financially captive to the FAW and being controlled by Welsh amateur football clubs. When you've got your head around that, imagine the FAW negotiates - badly - which leagues we play in and we end up in a league with Caersws All Stars, Limererick Rovers and Lochgelly United, and they also negotiate - badly - any TV deals, get all the tournament and TV income direct to FAW and decide how much we get.

Then you're somewhere close to what these Regions have had to cope with, before you get to how they've actually run themselves.

As an illustration. Ga=reth Davies was an excellent experienced in business and rugby WRU chair and wanted to push through serious changes that would reduce hobby club control and drag Wales into the professional era. So hobby clubs could see an end to their gravy train and control and called an EGM and voted to replace him with a retired geography teacher Robert Butcher from the committee of somewhere like Old Abercwmfuckwitonians ('Geog Bob').
