Murphy to leave our Eastern cousins and them employing Martin or Rooney.
Then failing to get promoted
That doesn't sound a bad new year

You sure? What about the two seasons following Potter when we had two top 6 finishes and a play off final?
We finished 10th under Potter
You're Coopers long lost father though.. just like Risc noshes off Cravatt because he met him once, Potter is a better manager than Cooper, they're just facts..

Potter may be a better manager but the facts are our seaaon under him wasnt the best since relegation as we finished 6th and 4th in the two seasons after the 10th place finish under Potter.
Opinions about who is the better manager are mixed....but facts are above

10th place finish under Potter was a disgrace considering the players he had in the squad.

If there was a choice between us having either back, it would be Cooper every single day of the week.

This will probably upset a few people - we got more points in Martin's second season than we did under Potter.

That I feel is a bit harsh on Potter since he had to pick up the pieces of a squad dismantled by the relegation sell off as well as being rock bottom on confidence as well as trying to integrate what was left with youth products to produce something resembling a squad.

The two most senior players in the squad that the owners couldn't get rid of (Bony and Ayew) were shipped off on loan depriving him of their experience and ability. Ayew in particular was almost singlehandedly responsible both seasons for getting us into the playoffs under Cooper and was very obviously a player far too good for the Championship.

While the facts do say that Cooper was more successful than Potter there is significant amounts of context and differences in the players they had available to them.

This every day and twice on Sundays.

Reminds me of people who claim that Monk’s season finishing ninth with Laudrup’s team was better than Laudrup’s tenth when we won the League Cup and qualified for Europe.
As with so many things, context is crucial.

Every word of this. Especially the highlighted part.

It could be argued all our finishes under the 3 managers after relegation were disappointing.

Potter came in and had to virtually build a new team/squad as players were being sold to soften the financial load.

Cooper had wonderful players, players who would go on to become premier league players and highly though of international players.

Martin quite similar to Cooper, not probably to the calibre of Cooper but players who were capable of more than where we finished come the seasons end.

Not all the above is what I believe to be true but what a lot of people put across at the time.

Another sideways and backwards manager who has been found out.
He's certainly a fan of the ball at feet and keeping hold of possession type of manager.
Most managers get found out, managers will be a certain fit with certain clubs.....roll up at the wrong club and they will get found out. It doesn't mean they are not good managers just not a good fit to that role.
