The BBC has run a poll for the team of the series.
There are 6 England players and 5 Australians in it!
Surely Root and 10 Aussies was the only answer?

England became unstuck before a ball was bowled. Jonathan Agnew has said some very strong words about the whole tour on the BBC website.
In fairness he made these points at the start. Woefully underprepared both in terms of game time and mentally. Root, Tongue and Bethell (and to an extent Archer until he was crocked again) come out with reputation intact. I do not believe it's a lack of talent but one of application. The likes of Head, Starc, Carey, Boland and Smith showed that. Even out-of-form players did not succumb to the brain farts of Brook, Jacks and Jamie Smith. Why spend two years nurturing Bashir for him just to get splinters in his arse. I don't think Potts or Carse are good enough. Crawley and Pope are too erratic and weak. Duckett is in poor form.

Need to stick with Tongue and Atkinson. Use Archer sparingly when conditions suit. Pick a young spinner to develop and if Bashir's batting is not up to it, then pick another. Find a reliable (even boring) opener to partner Duckett. Get brook to change his mindset......

And fix what might be an underlying discipline issue/drinking culture.

They played their best cricket when the series was lost as predicted.
When the going gets tough, this lot go back to bed.

Needs more steady Strauss and Cook types to balance out what, Root aside, is a very cavalier side.
We need openers who know what to/what not to leave, Brook to get his feet back on the ground, Bethell to keep his feet on the ground, Stokes to wrap himself up in cotton wool, a spin option and someone to replace Jimmy.

Spot on their best did better

And their worst did contributed a bit more.

Aussies weren’t brilliant but they were intelligent and didn’t make lots of mistakes like dropping catches.

I’m glad England lost last match it means changes will have to happen. Well done to Bethall and a strike rate of 60. Absolutely fine. Perfect.

Cut the slogging out. It’s a shame I thought this would be a good series. But it’s been probably the worst.

I think one attacking opener is fine. I don’t mean bazball but more aggressive.

Need to have a proper wicketkeeper.

More fundamentally it’s the basics though. Proper test cricket techniques, match awareness and line & length.

I sound like bloody boycott. I don’t want negative cricket. You can be positive without slogging

Winning a game in this format means taking twenty wickets, and this comes back to your line and length point. David Saker and the bowling coaches need to take a long look at this, if they are still around long enough to do so.

But this misses the point that the game has fundamentally moved on. Because of the inexorable rise of 20 over cricket those players mostly simply don’t exist now.
