• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

we’ll find it difficult to replace someone who has scored as many goals as Vipotnik this season he’s been sensational

However I do feel we need someone who can provide a more all round game than Vipotnik. He’s proved he’s a great goalscorer - but I don’t think he provides us much when he’s not scoring belters. Games recently such as Preston & Derby show he’s not offering much else.

Look at Oli Mcburnie who has provided 7 assists for Hull this season alongside his 12 goals. Someone who can bring our wingers into play a bit more.
He's been excellent at bringing wingers into play this season. particularly since Matos took over. It's not his fault the wingers mostly haven't done much with it (or it's been Vip himself on the other end of the cross!)

We have struggled for many many seasons without a proper proven striker (the only proper strikers in recent years are Piroe and before that it goes back to Llorente, Michu and Bony).

Vip is the real deal for me.

We should build the team around him.

History tells us we sell a great player and reinvest in unproven inferior quality.

Question is why do we want or need to sell him? People talk about this "model", not sure the new owners share that belief.

Top scorer in the division whilst playing for a team which has struggled to create chances for most of the season. What more does the lad need to do?
It will probably be a combination of him getting a good offer elsewhere and us wanting to get max value for a player that cost us nothing in transfer fees. Plus, we all know there are areas in the squad that need improvement and selling him would allow us to do that.

From what the new owners have said, they want to run things sustainably which to me means that they aren’t going to be throwing a load of money at it to get us up as soon as possible. They want to build it up over time so selling VP will be a step in a larger process.

If we were top 6 this season, I’d say definitely keep hold of him for another challenge next year but we aren’t. It’s going to take some time to get to that level I think.

Bit harsh to not include McBurnie & Ayew. Last 2 seasons we struggled for a goal scorer but in the other years since relegation we have had someone score around 20.

Bigger issue has been lack of goals from out wide/midfield.

That’s not to say I wouldn’t keep Vipotnik if finances allowed but it’d be a bit naive to expect us to not sell one of our best players this summer if a decent offer comes in.

We're ever going to progress and challenge for promotion by selling players as soon as they've shown a glimpse of promise.

Agree with Ayew. McBurnie wasn't that prolific because he was in and out of team, 22 goals in 4 seasons, his cult hero status is deserved.

Part of the reason (yes our wingers being absolutely awful is the largest part) we dont create alot or chances is because Vips movement in the box is terrible.

Fair play that's an absolute pearler of a post.

We don't create enough chances because the divisions top goal scorer does't move enough in the box 🤯

The same people will cream themselves over big units like Armstrong from Brizzle as they're a 'read handful' and 'what a real Championship stinker looks like'. Armstrong has scored 4 goals (0 assists) all season.

Blaming our top goal scorer for the teams lack of creativity is a new one on me 🤣
