• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

1-4 down at ht v Rotherham at the vetch, 4-4 at ft, was an awful wet tues night iirc

23rd March 1977
Swans 4 nil down at home to Stockport
Goals from George Smith , Les Chappell , Eddie May , Alan Curtis saw us gain an unlikely point .

The late Huddersfield manager Peter Jackson going radio rental after we beat them at the Vetch accusing Trundle of disrespecting his players by doing the neck roll. 🤣

And Wyndham, I think, missed a sitter in the last minute which would have won the game 5-4.

But... 49 years ago!!!!

Not 25 years but nearer maybe 55 years.
Can't remember the game but the Vetch pitch had been covered with straw.
It was cleared and put behind the North Bank and during the game it was on fire and smoke drifted up towards the pitch
Luckily it was quickly.put out so the game didn't stop.

Another time when part of the main stand caught fire and had to be demolished.

First home game after the fire, sunny day , only 3 sides used 0-0 against Darlo.....no atmosphere at all
So many games , and so many memories of travelling early on in freezing buses, one caught on fire, boozy pub and club pre and after match visits,
Petty game atmosphere was electric, im sure the treasurer never came back!!
Gregg era , was i think the only time I left a match early.
Those early years were different as someone said a closeness with the players and people within the club,
Leeds away and the journey back! supporters bus picking up mel up on the way back in the middle of no where as his car had broken down.
wembley 94 for us oldies must surely be up there, who ever thought lil old Swanea would play at Wembley?

got no idea whats happened here? 73 yr old see. lol

The game v Yeovil over Xmas 2003.
2-0 up and Yeovil bring it back to 2-2 with a Trundle winner late on.

Weale asking Trundle where he was putting his pen and Trunds telling him he will find out in a few minutes.
Gavin Williams giving it the big one with the ayatollah when they made it 2-2.
Williams face looking over to the North Bank when Trunds scored with the North Bank chanting "WILIAMS WHATS THE SCORE, WILLIAMS WILLIAMS WHATS THE SCORE"

Great game and atmosphere.
